Kayoko was the most amazing hostess. Friendly, helpful, an amazing cook. Best place we stayed in Japan. Stayed in the smaller Tsuki (Moon) room which we thought might be too closed in and dark, but it was perfect. Private, comfortable, clean, and easy same-level access to the pristine shared bathroom (with lovely hot showers). Breakfast was a highlight - included...

First of all, you have a great reception. Kayoko is warm and an amazing host! If you have any question about Nara, she would kindly answer it. The Room was well prepared and super clean, I stayed in the upper floor and had a nice view to the garden. The breakfast was exquisite and the tea time goodies as well....

I wanted to post a positive review about this guesthouse because the host was so friendly and helpful. She was very welcoming and had plenty of suggestions for things such as what restaurants you could try. The room was a good Japanese style room with a futon. There was a shared toilet and two shared showers. You had to go...

Kayoko is awesome. Everything you could ever want in a landlady! The room was spotless, comfortable and lovely. The food terrific and fresh. A wonderfully warm and welcoming stay in Nara. My children loved this place. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sakuraya.

Can't say enough about Guesthouse Sakuraya. We visited as a family of four. We all slept in a clean comfortable room on the second floor. Toilet and sink in the room, large bathroom with two showers a short walk downstairs. Wonderful sitting room for tea. Amazing Japanese breakfast. We were treated like royalty with hospitality and advice. There is nothing...

Our family stayed here on our recent trip to Japan and it was an absolute highlight. Kayoko-san is the most wonderful example of Japanese hospitality you can imagine. Every single detail was perfect, and as other reviews have indicated, the accomodation itself is excellent, the breakfast superb - I'm just sorry that 5 stars is the maximum that we can...

Had a lovely stay here. Kayoko-San was welcoming and helpful in all matters. Location is great, nice and clean and the breakfast both Japanese and western style were excellent. Kimono experience was wonderful and really completed my visit to Japan. Is a little perfect place in Nara and I would love to stay again if I have the chance to....

The grounds, as described by the other travellers before us, need no further words or justification. It was quite simply perfect. But Kayoko-San really completed the entire stay-in experience. She concerned herself with all our minor requests, and even sold us part of her personal stamp collection (*gasp* pictures of Japanese cuisine) when the post office was closed. We visited...

We stayed for the second time in Guesthouse Sakuraya and were very well taken care of by Kayoko-san. Kayoko-san speaks English very, very well. She was also very helpful in making a reservation in a Japanese restaurant of our choice. Every morning we were treated on an excellent Japanes breakfast and as we stayed four nights we could choose the...
