The room was great - view over the castle and its nice green hilltop and long moat in front of hotel. But really in a hotel like this you'd expect something better than the city free wifi that was virtually inoperable - bad show indeed!

I booked a double room as the booking site stated it sleeps 2 people. Well, there was barely enough room for 1 let alone 2 people. The bed was small for two and it made for an uncomfortable stay. The bed was harder than others slept in in Japan, and the pillows were those that the japanese prefer- hard and... More

This was my first trip to Japan. I went to visit my brother who is teaching English in Matsuyama. I wanted to find a hotel that was close to his apartment. Not knowing the area, choosing this hotel was a shot in the dark. The reviews here seemed to be good, though, so I took the chance. I'm so happy... More

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel JAL City Matsuyama in November 2015 for 3 nights. We selected this hotel for its location and price. It's just about a 10 minute walk from Matsuyama Station or just a few seconds from the tram stop outside the hotel lobby. Ask for a castle view room, if possible. We were on... More

I have stayed for two weeks. Being from Africa, i am used to space. It felt that i was going crazy with clostrophobia. For safety, the windows could not open properly. Always ask for a room with a view because i was placed in a room with a view from the backside of everything. Its safe and the staff was very... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a single night so that we could visit the famous Matsuyama Castle. It was definitely worth the stopover because the hotel was fine and the Castle very interesting with great exhibits. Our room was spacious, well-furnished, very clean, and attractive. The cost of the room & breakfast for two persons was... More

Everything works, is modern, spacious, very good breakfast buffet. Not as special as a ryokan but I like to mix both types of hotel. For example: in many quait, charming hotels, you can't really darken the room. In a good modern hotel like this, what some people call charmless, things like that are not a problem.

The hotel is located at half-way the Matsuyama castle from the JR station and far from the downtown. From my small no smoking single room I had a direct view over the castle as it was only separated by a moat and a street. The room is of the "JAL-city hotels" standard. Breakfirst was taken at the ground floor italian... More

We felt it as luxury to stay here. The price matched that to. Very professional service, nice views from Windows. We had rooms biff up, so we were not disturbed by the noisy traffic. We lie the city. It is the 4th time we are here. One day we made a mini pilgrimage to temples 49 to 53.

As per other reviews, the hotel is central to the city and an easy 10 min walk to the JR station. 2 convenience stores nearby, wifi is available in the lobby area only -- in rooms it is via LAN cable which is useless for tablet and some laptop users. Once we figured out how to open the window, the... More
