This is a review for a room for $200 per day. September 2013. 1. Dirty carpets. 2. Dirt behind night stands: small hills of dust, some papers left by the previous clients. 3. Broken locks in the bathroom. We told to the manager to fix it; no reaction for 5 days. 4. THEY REQUIRE YOU TO PAY IN ADVANCE. 5....

Great location, two good close restaurants on the property and a good view from upper level rooms. Small cramped rooms, deteriorating infrastructure and a generally shabby appearance once you're out of the lobby. The state of the hotel provides a powerful incentive to get out and explore the surroundings. There appears to be some renovation going on so request a...

This hotel has seriously decayed over the years. Hot water is not readily available. The condition of rooms is poor. I was given a room with a broken bath and broken wall tiles. The tap in the sink felt like it was going to come off every time I turned it on. The TV in my room was smaller than...

The good: The hotel is located centrally on Dostyk and Abai avenue and the lobby certainly looks very grand. There is free internet access, which when i was there worked relatively well. The breakfast was not bad - although some days were better than others. I tried two of the restaurants in the hotel, The Noodles and the Guns and...

If you what to know what Soviet luxury accommodation is like, this is a must. Grand looking building but nothing going for it other than the view. Why someone hasn't gutted it and turned it into something else is beyond me. Everything inside is old, beds and furniture have clearly seen better days. Avoid breakfast at all costs. There is...

This is the first high rise building in Eurasia and feels like it. My room was clean and comfortable but the carpet was stained and the window would not close which meant the constant street noise was present all night. Gaffer tape had little effect on stoping the draft! Has an on site nightclub but no noise in the rooms....

Probably one of the oldest hotels in Almaty and could do with a serious refurb to bring it up to today's standards, lifts very slow. Pretty good value for money, you pay for what you get. Breakfast not bad, plenty of choice but when you stay for 5 weeks at a time it gets a bit repetitive. Hotel can be...
