Beautiful & well maintained surroundings plus the clean beach & the peace and quite make Livingstonia Beach Hotel on the shores of Lake Malawi in Salima a must visit if in Malawi. Built probably back in the colonial days, it is well set & very green, the beach is well taken care of & clean. The camp site nearby offers...

While on a business trip, in Malawi, a couple of us took a taxi from Lilongwe to the Sunbird Livingstonia Beach Hotel for a quick excursion. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed by very friendly hotel staff, the hotel itself is has an old colonial architecture. We immediately took to the beach and spent a few hours relaxing under the...

My spouse and I spent a week here. The hotel staff were simply amazing, pleasant and friendly. The grounds and the pool were well kept. The view from the beach, the sounds of the waves and the boats from the fisherman made it so relaxing and peaceful. We were very satisfied with our meals as well as room service. Our...

I stayed here for a conference. The hotel staff were great, very helpful and friendly. We had a good training room with excellent AC and lighting. They offer fairly weak but reliable internet (for which you must buy cards) -- good enough for email and some web browsing but not strong watch videos, for example. The buffet breakfast and lunch...

The Livingstonia is what it is, an old hotel in need of complete renovation. However, the location at Senga Bay near Salima is absolutely incredible. The beach is near perfect with thatch umbrellas and sun chairs and the lake clear and pretty clean. If you are not sure about swimming in the lake there is an enormous pool with a...

We had a room that opened out onto the beach - really stunning. The rooms were clean and functional and ideal for the area. There may be chips on the bath enamel but, we are talking about rural Malawi where it is extremely difficult to get modern equipment. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful - the...

I stayed at the Livingstonia for 4 nights on work in Salima. The property has a great location and the beach is very nice. Considering the resource availability and the holiday crowd that uses the beach on the weekend in Malawi, the Hotel has done their best in keep the property clean. There were power outages during the stay, but...

The lady at checkin was most unwelcoming, unfriendly & unhelpful. All the other staff were friendly. The hotel is 2 Star certified hotel by the Malawi Tourist Board. The room & furnishings is very old fashioned but spacious. The bathroom was old and the bath itself had several marks where the enamel had been pelled off and the raw metal...

We visited for the day (we didn't stay as we had rooms at the Sunbird Capital), but did stop for lunch. The lunch terrace overlooks the lake and is absolutely beautiful. It has unspoilt views. The service is polite and friendly and the atmosphere is nice with live music playing and lots of beautiful birds and flowers to admire. We...

I did not stay the night at this hotel, only spent a couple of days on the beach and at the restaurant. The beach and views were wonderful, very very beautiful. The restaurant food was pretty good, but it took over an hour both days I ate there. Wifi is through Skyband, so you buy according to data usage. I...
