The welcoming is nice and the place is nice and peaceful when it is not in the fog. However the bedrooms are very simple and the bathrooms (small) as well. It's clean but it needs to be rehabilitated and improved. The host are trying their best with the money they have and with what they can get in Malawi. The...

In the light of this review (which both surprised and upset us), Tom and I would like to thank all the guests who have given us WONDERFUL feedback. We would also like to apologise to each of them for not thanking them individually - our Internet is generally too poor to do this :( To Patrice and Catherine, we are...

My second stay here, halfway up the mountain! I brought my wife this time as she was bored of me going on about it! Firstly, don't expect the Hilton! This is a simple, homely guest house, run excellently. Of course there is no electricity as they are up a mountain, but a well-managed solar bank of about 50 lights works...

Zomba Forrest Lodge has 4 rooms and owners who take pride in making the guest feel at home. Home made cooking the way it should be and the drinks you made need including Norwegian Aquavit. The rooms are basic but comfortable. No electricity in any form, but solar powered lamps. There are tracks for short hikes on the property and...

Zomba Forest Lodge is situated high above the town of the same name in Southern Malawi. It is a little way outside town on a beautiful winding mountain road. The lodge itself is basically a beautiful house situated in stunning gardens, surrounded by forests and natural bush. There is no electricity, but this was not missed for one second as...

The lodge is situated a couple of Km's off the good tar road leading from Zomba Town to the plateau. You leave the road and follow a dirt track along the mountain side, through a wooded area to the isolated house. We were greeted by Tom, the owner and his two dogs Saxon and Loki. Tom runs the lodge with...

Myself and my wife lived in Malawi for a year and visited many of the restaurants and lodges in Malawi. ZFL was definitely our favourite with the best food and a fantastic location. The lodge is beautifully set on Zomba Plateau, and has a lovely home-away-from-home feel. The owners Tom and Petal warmly welcomed us with a G&T before we...

Unless you are an internet addict in search of adrenalin, this place is paradise. What a beautiful sanctuary in the heart of Zomba. The owners, Petal and Tom, are kind, friendly and charming; they pay meticulous attention to detail, making guests feel totally relaxed and at home. The decor is impressive, consisting of many of their own pieces of art...

At the end of a long, windy road, past villages of tree loggers we eventually arrived at this small, beautiful, remote and quiet haven, with its extensive gardens, plants and paths and spectacular views, The food was absolutely delicious and the evenings were spent in front of the open fire, chatting and playing games. Our family party of 6 rented...

An electricity-free adorable little lodge, home for the owners-managers themselves, set on the ridge of Zomba Plateau amidst beautiful gardens and surrounded by charming paths inside the forest. The food is unique and outstandingly tasty, the owners are helpful but not pushy, and the one word that comes to mind is heaven. There's no doubt we'll come back.
