Extremely terrible experience! Booking was made days ago for 2 twin rooms, but was assigned rooms at 2 different floors. We only get to know about it upon check in and expressed concerns because we have a child who might look for grandparents anytime. But the reception staff named Ayumi who attended to us was extremely rude and told us "all rooms are fully booked" and "if you want your rooms to be on the same floor, you will have to wait, but I can't guarantee you how long." in a sarcastic tone. When we asked to speak to the Manager, she brought a man to the counter and the man just looked at the monitor, said something to her, and walked away. Throughout the process, the man had no eye contact with us, never introduced himself and never said a single word to us. After he left, this reception staff named Ayumi then informed us that she will shift us to 2 interconnected rooms. So, it means arrangement can be made, but she just wanted an easy way out and gave us an attitude to brush us off! We had initially wanted to stay in St Giles hotel during this trip as our previous experiences there were pleasant. We eventually decided to book this hotel because we heard it's new and would like to give it a try. Central location, plenty of food options and friendly staff... 30 years since I last visited JB! Then and now for family weddings. We checked in at 6am after grabbing a taxi from Singapore post our SQ flight from Perth which touched down at 4.30am. Unbelievable but there was a jam across the causeway at this time of the morning! So glad I included breakfast in our booking because we headed straight to the buffet spread which covered just about everything from piping hot curry laksa to freshly cooked eggs, all sorts of bakery items and fresh fruit. Room was spacious and comfortable with views over the causeway (and the never-ending traffic jam). Headed up to the pool on the 32nd floor for a dip after an energising nap and the water was thankfully warm (unlike many rooftop pools that hardly catch the sun). HICCJB is 10 minutes walk from "Little India" along Jln Wong Ah Fook where you can get the most delectable indian food and tucked in between the thosai and appam shops was Ya Wang (if you fancy charsiu or roast duck-to die for!). Obviously these stay open till 9-9.30pm so if you’re looking for late night suppers, it’ll have to be elsewhere. Hailing a Grab was simple enough and plentiful for us to get around to where we needed to go. The lobby is located on the 8th floor; floors 1-7 have a shopping centre that covers any shopping one might need and if still not enough is linked to the next building’s shopping centre by an undercover walkway so plenty to do including the movies if you run out of stuff. Special mention must go to Capt Fairus Kusaini who was making the rounds and personally checking with guests about their stay and any feedback on how they could improve themselves – a true gentleman and customer service professional. Great location for those without public transport. It’s linked to CIQ Train station via an overhead bridge and only a 10 mins walk. The hotel is above Komtar Mall and linked to City Square Mall too. So shopping is very easy & a lot of food options. Went during school holidays and our room was only ready at 4pm but they allowed late check out at 2pm the next day. Room was clean and they provided 2 types of pillow - soft and firm. But I had neck pain after a night sleep. 😅 The pool is small but nice and there’s a jacuzzi too. Gym has the usual weights and machines and it was brightly lit. Staff was nice and friendly. Overall quite an OK stay. Great place if your itinerary is just to eat, shop & sleep.

Nice buffet spread. Came for breakfast and the themed dinner. Breakfast spread was huge compared to other hotels and it really did not disappoint. Dinner was tasty especially the Singapore Laksa and the Lamb Massaman. Service was efficient, polite and full of smiles. Definitely will be back.

At first glance, I felt it was nice. Literally a walk away from the KTMB train. Access to the reception is quite confusing though, as there is no direct access or rather, clear instructions from the covered walkway. When inside, it looks clean but on closer inspection, its dusty and the toilet is definitey not up to standard. There was hair from previous users. Soap scum everywhere not cleaned. Mouldy edges at so many spots. In my room, there was no floor mat. The body wash was not topped up. The phone was not working properly when i tried to call guest services. The lift is really slow possibly due to very heavy usage. Even the gym is quite sad and old too. Overall, not worth it at all unless they learn how to clean and maintain the hotel well.

Car parking at level 7 of JBCC Komtar. Open space parking that is guarded when we arrived. Booked a standard room with 1 single bed but upon checked in at 8pm+, staff advised only left with 2 twin beds.. but well, only for 1N, so we accepted it. Glad to have 2 types of pillows, soft and firm! But there was a bit of bad smell on the soft pillow. There was also food smell in the mini bar. Couldn't find the hairdryer, glad I brought my own! Found stains on the floor towel, and worse on bath towels too. Check-out was a quick and easy. Overall was an okay stay, staff were friendly too but housekeeping needs improvement. An international hotel chain should do better than this!

The parking was very weird, you need to all the way to level 7 to park your car in front the hotel in the open space car park. Check in rather smooth. Housekeeping not doing a good job in term of Room cleanliness, found a used dental floss empty box underneath the sofa, some coins under the bed. Yellowish stain on top of bathroom ceiling, and left over biscuit under the sink. Holiday Inn standard should provide firm and soft pillows, hence both of the beds with only soft pillows. Bed head light cover full of dust and hairs.
