As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member that just stayed in Ritz Carlton Langkawi prior to changing hotels to St Regis Langkawi, I wanted to compare the difference between these 2 establishments since they're both ranked the same Category 6 hotels under Marriott group. I'm disappointed to report that the experience from St Regis Langkawi was far below my expectations. Check in: Run of the mill check-in process, no complaints but nothing special either. Slightly disappointed as I informed them 3 days prior to my arrival via email that i will be arriving at 1-1.30pm, however the room was only ready at around 3pm. Access to the room: The bellboy came to pass us the keys and showed us to the room instead of a butler. He told us that the butler assigned to take care of us will drop by our room to walk through the services and facilities later. Nobody showed up, even up to the point when i checked out. The famed Butler service in this sense was a massive let down. Room: Stayed in the St Regis Suite with Pool cabana. Housekeeping did a poor job in preparation for the next guest's stay. We were only provided 2 bottles of mineral water, 2 bath towels, and they didn't even put bath robes in the room. This would have been fine if it was just a standard 3 or 4-star hotel, but i had much higher expectations of St Regis than this. It's a pool suite with access to the beach, you should be expecting that your guests will require more bath towels than just 2 (in comparison, Ritz Carlton Langkawi gave 4 bath towels and 2 beach towels in the room) had to call butler services to request for each item. There was even a used clothes hanger left on the porch by the previous guest! Broken Air Conditioner: The night got worse as it progressed. Just before we went to bed, we realised that the air-conditioning in the bedroom wasn't working. The technician came to inspect and attempted to repair, and told us to wait an hour for it to turn cold before they will arrange for a spare room for us to sleep in. I'm not sure which air conditioner brand in the world requires AN HOUR to turn cold, so I had to personally venture to front desk to request for the room immediately instead of waiting in futile. Went down to front desk to return the spare room's key. All we were offered were just verbal apologies, with no attempt to offer any goodwill gesture to compensate all that we went through. All they mentioned was that they will inform management about all this. As a hotel brand that supposedly prides itself for their hospitality and service, St Regis Langkawi is the biggest letdown amongst all the Marriott branded hotels I've stayed in. If you're looking for a proper getaway, I'd advise against choosing them. You're better off with places such as Ritz Carlton, Datai, Danna, Four Seasons.

We were planning to celebrate my husband's birthday and I had attempted to contact the butler beforehand to get some help to coordinate decorations to surprise my husband. Unfortunately the email provided was not responded to for awhile and needed some external help. I requested some room decor (which was initially confirmed that would be done but was not done). Asides from the intial hiccup prior to check in, the stay was wonderful. Check-in was easy with the Mariott Bonvoy app, and we were lucky to have room availability for early check-in. Service at check in was impeccable, and the staff who greeted us went through the initial requests I had made with me discreetly to surprise my husband. We had booked the sunset villa, which was nothing short of amazing. Beautiful decor, lovely view of the ocean and loved the outer patio and pool deck with the private pool. Beds were very comfortable with a firm mattress and pillows, and great lighting throughout. Bathroom was huge, although hot water took some time to heat up (approx 5 minutes waiting time), but water pressure was good. Butler service was amazing - easily contacted through WhatsApp and would respond to requests very quickly. We mostly used the service for the buggy as it was a bit of a walk to the main building and we would usually be able to get a buggy within ten minutes. Room service was also easy and the butlers helped to set up and clear the meal once we were done. Buffet breakfast was varied, and although it was generally quite full instead the breakfast area they setup tables and chairs outside, which was quite pleasant as long as the sun did not get too hot. Make sure to have their ala carte options (the lobster bisque omelette was delicious, and their signature iced teas are wonderful thirst quenchers). The bar had live music at nights and that was a lot of fun as well (loved the singer, for a mix of 80s music). We also had dinner at Kayuputi and food was delicious, service was great. Check out was uneventful, and they helped us arrange an airport transfer as well. St Regis lives up to the service expectations and is such a pleasant place to stay in Langkawi. We ended up not leaving the resort at all, and had a great relaxing weekend.

Great time in Langkawi. The hotel is impressive. Spacious room, attentive staff and service is very good. Molly, head of butler. Taking good care of me through-my stay. Very professional and service with smile. Amazing buffets selections. St Regis bar. I never feel lonely at all. They treat guest like their friend. Nazz and Nava make very good cocktail. Shahlina is always there whenever you need something from the bar. Well done to all the team for making my stay truly memorable and make me want to come back again and again.

Very tired looking resort. We had a room with a pool but the curtains, cannopy and cushions were all worn out and mouldy. We had a butler service but never saw the butler. When calling zero as instructed the call was rarely attended to. Makes you wonder why you have this service. Towels and toiletries were replaced at random. Sometimes you got and sometimes not. Towels would be replaced randomly, sometimes you got bath towels and sometimes hamd towels. When contacted bouse keeping promised but did not deliver. Room service was hit and miss. A pot of English Breakfast tea with milk on the side was translated to ice tea. A club sandwich with no pickles was translated to no cheese. When coming was made an apology was forthcoming but at checkout not even a query about how we found the experience. Poor service. One of the biggest issues is the constant sewage smell as you exit the room. Despite mentioning this on day two no follow up was made and nobody called to see how we were getting on. Breakfast is a good selection and service is super friendly even though they are clearly short staffed and untrained. The server on bread could not even make toast, we ordered eggs but they never came. But to be fair they were trying, just could not cope. The beach bar/restaurant is a nice location but they do not serve snacks. The only option is a full on meal which most people do not want, probably explains why nobody uses it. Would not take much to change up the menu for light lunches. For the price paid this is not good enough and I will never return. I would advise people to avoid. There are much better options at the same price point on the island. Very friendly staff though, but they are let down by management.
