The location is excellent, around the main backpacker area in penang. Within walking distance to lots of food, little India and the ferry terminal. The rooms are basic - some might complain about the lack of 'character' within the white tiled floors and squarish, blockish rooms. BUT character is all around the area: street art is abundant and there are...

The star lodge is in a great location, just one street up the busy backpacker street. The staff there is super friendly and helpful. The only thing we missed is a good, communicative atmosphere - there seem to be less travelers and more older white people living there. Our doubleroom was spacious, and had a table with 2 chairs.

This is the perfect budget hotel. Cheapest onward travel we've found to thailand, lots of extra services. Staff are so friendly. Everyone seems to chat to each other with the staff and fellow backpackers. in the day and evening which is nice. Nice and relaxed. Rooms are spotless. Great location. Can't fault it!

Clean, comfortable rooms and friendly proprieter. We looked at many rooms in Georgetown with AC and private bath and found Star Lodge to be the best- as good as many costing more. Will definitely stay here next time we are in Penang. Hope we don't wait 10 years again!

We stayed as a group of five, split between two rooms. We asked to be moved from the first double room (G9 I think?) we were given due to a nasty mould smell but the owner was accommodating and moved us to another room upstairs that we were very happy with. The private bathroom was small and spotlessly clean and...

Isn't exactly a 5 star hotel but the people there are very friendly and welcoming. I slept very well here! Great for backpacking and incredibly cheap! Very similar to other lodges around here, was reccommended by my dad.

This place is the definition of a budget guesthouse. The price is great and the rooms are clean with hot water and AC that work well. The staff is friendly and the guesthouse has a great location to explore Georgetown. We stayed in a few different places but this place offered the best value.

Stayed here only one night but the man at the front desk greeted us and made us feel welcome, the double rooms were clean with table and chairs and ensuite, and for a great price. The staff helped us book onwards travel and recommended some great stuff for us to do. Area is ideal.
