Sunway Hotel is a 4 star hotel tucked nearly away in the bustling city of Georgetown. Located within walking distance to Times Square mall and M Mall. It’s relatively convenient.
It’s very easy to transit around Georgetown as there are plenty of Grab drivers around and a trip to a nice restaurant or another mall would cost you less than RM$10.
Hotel room is clean and functional.
Complimentary toiletries provided too!
I’ll recommend it and would definitely choose Sunway again if I head back to Georgetown.

I’ve paid almost RM1200 for 2 nights for 2 rooms (that’s almost RM300 per night) but the overall quality of the hotel room and service was way below my expectations. I checked in late at almost 5pm but was still asked to wait for 20 mins before I could enter my room. The receptionist claimed that they needed time to replenish the bathroom toiletries etc. I’ve also booked 2 deluxe king size bedroom but was only given 1 king size bed and the other was said to be queen because they claimed that they ran out of king size. But when I entered the room it was twin bed. Dishonest or what you judge it for yourself.
I’ve also requested for a babycot earlier via Agoda but was not being responded to. So I asked again upon check in. They earlier said there will be a baby cot provided but ltr informed saying that they do not have any at that moment. I insisted for one for the following night of which they obliged but the mattress didn’t seem too clean as it was ‘sandy’!
When I entered the room, half drank mineral water was still placed at the bedside table. Disgusting or what? And when I went into the bathroom, the body wash liquid bottle was empty. So what was being replenished? I don’t know.
Hotel also didn’t come with any free breakfast which I think isn’t worth it. Swimming pool is really small as well and nothing to shout about.
The only good thing was the location and the staff were rather friendly and probably the late check out given.
Don’t think I’ll ever stay here again. Save your money for newer hotels.

We stayed four nights in this hotel and enjoy our experience with the street food as the hotel is right next to it. Quite place with an exceptionally clean open air swimming pool but small in size. Our room on the 11th floor is large with good a/c and excellent shower. Breakfast/Restaurant is operated independently from the hotel which provide a good breakfast though I found the choice limited if local food is not your top pick. The coffee was too strong for my liking and they did not have milk or half/half just powder creamer. However, the coffee/coffee mate in the hotel room supplied by the hotel was not bad.
We were very happy with their services; we had no trouble getting extra towels, water or coffees delivered to our room within minutes. Their Duty Manager Kelvin was very helpful at check-in and staff generally eager to help to make sure our stay was comfortable.

The staffs are incredibly professional, efficient and well mannered as well as helpful and quick to help in any way. The rooms are so well kept and very clean. The location of the hotel is absolutely strategic and many attractions are within walking distance such as malls and famous makan places, a huge bonus is that at night, all you need to do is walk out of the hotel lobby and you are in a bustling hawker center within a stone's throw away. It is one of the best places my family and I have stayed at and we will definitely be coming back soon!

Hubby Derek and I have just returned home from our 5th stay at the Sunway Hotel in Georgetown this morning, we once again had a fabulous stay, we were upgraded to receive Club bonuses, including, breakfast each morning in the Club Lounge, a couple of laundry items each day, drinks and nibbles every day between 5-7pm in the Club Lounge, mini bar and a few other special benefits. A special thanks to Fig for looking after us at breakfast. Our room was decorated with Christmas decorations, even having a small Christmas tree that we could put our presents under. New Year's Eve we had a great view of the Komtar to see the fireworks at midnight. We are returning again in mid March and are very much looking forward to staying with the Sunway Hotel again, fantastic staff and hotel. Definitely 5 star service

CNY period was kinda busy but the staff gave us 2 hours early check-in as we arrived early. Good initiative to have free shuttle bus to various local sight-seeing locations. Within walking distance to New Lane street food with variety of local delicacies for lunch, dinner and supper. Next to a Ban Heang shop selling Penang's signature souvenirs, Tambun biscuits. The location is centralized and we spent RM 6 to go to the nearest shopping mall. Breakfast was crowded due to CNY, food was replenished rather slowly.

This hotel above my expectation. They have self check in machine which was quite a new experience. The staff is very friendly and assisted me in the self check in process. One thing that i really impressed was the hotel really looked into the request that i have stated during my booking and also responded my pm fast through their facebook page. I've been facing many other hotels just ignore the special requests for the booking.
Good location with many hawker stalls just walk down the street. And Ban Heang biscuits just right opposite the hotel, which is very convenience to buy souvenirs.
The room is clean and spacious. The bathroom a bit small though but it is clean. The air conditioner worked very well and cold. Limited TV channels but still acceptable. The shower pressure a bit low and the water will suddenly getting cold or too hot. It would be great if the pressure higher and with stable temperature. Probably the hotel should have a nice dining restaurant. It seems wasted leaving the place empty.
Car park easy to access and feel safe, because i saw there are security guards at the car park checking around. Will come back again.

I came here for a switch; WFH (h: home) to WFH(h: hotel). I stayed for 3 nights at Sunway Hotel. The room was clean, the staffs were friendly and the entire environment is just so peaceful. Sanitisers were refilled all days. That was really thoughtful.Since I work from the hotel, I start my day doing yoga, glancing over the window to view Komtar and two temples right adjacent to the hotel The sound of the temple bell sets me at my workplace. I write a bit till 10 am. Then will drive down to Kimberly road for a yummy Chinese street breakfast. By the time I'm back, the room will be tidy and disinfected. I work again till evening. Around 4-5 pm, I did visit the hawkers stall along Lorong Baru. Unfortunately, food was not so good. Tried twice and decided not to try again. Other hawkers street are mostly great!I booked the hotel under booking .com and paid twice the price charged directly by the hotel. Please, please ..please book directly with the hotel as you can save really a lot especially if you are a solo traveller, travelling at work....

We really love it here, we stayed on high floor, fast check-in, room's facilities well maintained, helpful staff. We had a wonderful window's view overseeing hills and the city view. It is a practical hotel, we had covered car park inside the building, and the lifts were secured with room's key. Overall, clean as expected. My family love it here. Except b/fast not provided, but it is understandable due to Covid-19. Easy to find food just down and near the hotel with hawkers. The hotel daily maintenance and cleaning services were of high quality, when we got back, it looked like new again.

I'm really sorry to have to write this review. I like the general feel of the hotel. Great view. Great great location.
But the shower doesn't dispense hot water well and the pressure is low. The ironing board is dented and I couldn't make it stand firm while I prepared my work clothes. The door needed a good yank to open after a few tries with my access card.
In addition, the location has a down side - I tried to sleep but the live band downstairs was very audible till late. And I'm on one of the higher floors.
Friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Really wish things worked out just a little bit better.

USM is just the exit from the first Penang bridge , the sunway hotel is in the heart of the city (Komtar) so it’s take around 15-20 mins by Taxi or Uber @ Grab to get to USM . Price is around RM 10-12
There is a machine at the main lobby for you to self check in using the booking ID that has been given to you during online booking. After the self check in, you can collect the room keys from the reception counter. You still have to be physically present but no longer have to cue to check in at the counter.
Thank you for your responses Sandym & Climber. I also contacted the hotel by email asked the same question but the hotel failed to reply my email, resulting in me to book a different hotel.
