Centrally located, suitable for those who wants to explore the city, whether on foot for food trail or ease of moving around. Given a room at high floor, good view of the city, further sea view and the Penang port (from far). Room at quick view was clean but work desk was dusty at the ledge, desk lamp and switches are not wiped down. Kettle was also dusty though stored in the cabinet. It caused my sinus and VMS to flare up. My guess is this room has not been dusted properly.
The Hotel is centrally located, minutes away from the famous Komtar building & my childhood home in Pulau Tikus before my father was transferred to Kuala Lumpur. Waze guided my friend & I to the Hotel’s parking. We found a vacant spot on Level 3. We pulled our trolley luggage to Level 2 where the lift to the lobby was. There was a queue at the Front Desk. We waited at least 30 minutes before we received our key to our 2103 room on Level 21. As I entered our room, I could see stain marks on the wood panel just underneath the television which doubled as a rack. I was quite upset with Housekeeping. They obviously didn’t do a thorough cleaning. In addition, the room was small & the twin beds were laid as a double bed. There wasn’t any space in between. And we had issues with the air-conditioner. It was such a hot day & the blower wasn’t very strong. We had reduced the temperature but it took ages for the AC to drop its temperature. We called Front Desk many times. They finally answered & assured us that a maintenance staff will arrive to look into our problem. He only appeared after our 5th phone call to the reception which was an hour later! Two minutes prior to his arrival, we received a knock on the door. I believed it was someone from Front Desk. She did something to the AC but it only worsened the problem. The maintenance staff wasn’t able to address the problem & he proposed that we change rooms after our event. We agreed as there was a leak from the bathroom’s hand bidet & shower head. Water was shooting everywhere when we used the shower! Also, the water pressure from the rain shower head wasn’t good enough for me! But there were a few plus points as well. The bed was very comfortable. We had Astro & Vision Four for our entertainment purposes. The additional pillows in the wardrobe delighted my friend to no end & she had used them at night. The one thing that surprised me was the small fridge located on the wall! It’s usually on the ground in most hotels. A great idea for those like me who have backache problems. Bottled water was also provided. A Muslim prayer mat was already in the wardrobe together with a safe box. There was also a lightweight Panasonic steam iron & ironing board which we used to press our clothes for the night’s event in the Hotel’s ballroom on Level 10. Best of all, the view from our window was of the Penang Bridge, a shopping mall called 1st Avenue & parts of Georgetown. Anyway, we called Front Desk after the event regarding the change of room. The staff was apologetic as he wasn’t sure. After we explained, he informed that he will get back to us. Minutes later, he appeared at our door & handed the key card to our new room on Level 17. We can just leave the current key card on the desk before leaving. The new room was identical. At least the shower head was not leaking. However, it was missing one hook & there weren’t any hand towels in the bathroom. Furthermore, we could not get WiFi & had to call the Front Desk for assistance. Apart from that, everything was good. Breakfast was on Level 2. The selection was good & the Hotel had lived up to its reputation. Food was good. The only complaint was on its bread, pastries & doughnuts. They were all hard! We had asked for a late check-out but were given an additional half-hour only as they were operating at full occupancy rate. Check-out was fast & easy and the parking was waived. In short, it was a good but short stay. We will definitely come back again to explore the Hotel grounds, especially the pool & gym which we failed to visit.…
Stayed here for 2 nights. They use covid as an excuse not to clean room everyday, when the hotel is obviously lack of manpower. I called housekeeping to take away the garbage from morning and surprise to find my room outside still have 2 full garbage late at night. You are paying hotel rate for airbnb, or lower standard. Drinking water upon request, not enough toilet paper. For business traveller, go back hotel with used bathroom etc is a big no. They should have stated this condition when we book our hotel. And even though I request for room cleaning when I check in, they also refuse my request. I pay full rate for hotel, why can't I request for clean room? Second night---- the HH rooftop bar at M101 suite next door blast their music until 2.30am by awful karaoke. The hotel didn't do anything and we couldn't sleep until 3am If you want a good rest, this is Not a hotel for u. …
centrally located-can walk to Penang Road/ easy to get GRAB car Fast check in/out. Friendly staff Good breakfast Clean comfortable room No issues with aircond /water pressure unfortunately didnt get to try the exec lounge
Things didn’t start well from check in where too complicated procedure. Room not good. A business must have a proper wifi, i had to abandon online meetings there was no internet connection. they didn’t clean the room the second day. Only good positive point is the location and the breakfast, otherwise would have been lowest point. It is cheap but you don’t get anything
First time staying, location was fantastic. Visited during the peak Raya holidays for a 3D2N stay. Check-in was a breeze but the lack-off housekeeping was astounding. My room was not cleaned despite switching on the 'make up room' indicator and few doors down another guest probably felt the same by leaving 2 full trashcans outside his/her room in the hallway. Breakfast was average - the staffs were ensuring food was stocked up for the crowd but quality was subpar. Stay for the location and convenience to nearby eateries but not to expect much. Give the breakfast a miss by all means!
I booked an Executive Deluxe King room knowing their lounge was open (the opposite hotel didn't). The lounge had a buffet spread for pre-dinner and snacks, and i enjoyed every bit of it. It was delicious, especially the pasta. This hotel has a shared parking with Cititel, and there was ample parking space for everyone. The only issue i have is with the room itself. During the night, the air-conditioner started leaking, and water was dripping all over the bathroom light switch and on the floor. At first they sent a technician to fix the problem, but after some time it happened again. Eventually I had to pack my luggage and change to another room at 2am in the morning.
Check-in: Was told on the website there was Private Check-in Arrived at 4.30pm with a long queue and no room. Had to wait an additional 30 minutes and went to a room that was blazing warm. Needed to wait many hours for the room to cool down to a comfortable level. The Room - Executive King Deluxe @ Level 30 Discrete and Private Comfort is really good Bed is amazingly comfy The toilet @ room: Nice shower Terrible toilet bowl, requires multiple flushing. No tissue box Amenities are good TV @ room: Really sub-par compared to other 4 star hotels such as Courtyard or Jen. WiFi: The worst ever in any hotel I have vacation at. Can’t even load simple web pages or YouTube. Speeds of 0.68MBps. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ In Room Dining on New Year’s Eve: Couldn’t get a spot on the buffet dinner but that’s alright, at least I could dine in my room. Compliments to the chef, and the Chinese lady at The Wembley Cafe. Chef made the best satay and spicy seafood aglio olio I have ever had in my life in Malaysia and I reckon it to be the best meal of my stay in Penang. Soup was excellent too if I may say so. The Wembley Cafe: Serves decent breakfast and the selection is good. Bakery & scrambled eggs and cereal was my favourite. The Executive Lounge: Wasn’t told I could use the lounge throughout the day during my stay until the eve of my departure. Cocktails served were excellent and drink selections were great. Ambiance was really nice but the music kept repeating. Checkout was a breeze. Would I return? Probably not.. I guess there are better options out there unless they improve the WiFi and provide Private checkin because that’s the deal breaker for me.…
Me and my friend stay there few days back. We booked for Superior Twin Room. The room, service and etc is excellent. Although the check in is 2PM but we arrived around 3PM and get the room at 4PM. As hotelier I understand that they did not have manning. This hotel I have 2 problems only with this hotel. 1. WIFI. The hotel wifi was so slow. I use speedtest on my phone and i get 2.46Mbps for download and 2.33Mbps for upload. I can't do my work to check my email. I have to use my personal hotspot which is more faster than hotel WIFI. Even i watch youtube need to change to the quality video to 480p to get better speed. 2. HOUSEKEEPING. I don't whether this hotel don't provide or they forgot to put. I only get 2 bath towel and floor mat only. No face & hand towel. It is quite disappointing because this is basic Hotel amenities they should have in every room. I don't want to request because I thought they will bring but until we check out still didn't provide so I just keep ignore it. Our room is without breakfast but we pay for the breakfast on the last day. The breakfast is fantastic!!! Shout out to the reception guy who is Malay that I can't remember the name. He make my check in very smooth although I know that hotel is fully booked on that day. My overall experience is good. If you ask me should I come back to this hotel. I probably give a second chance to stay with them but I hope the WIFI & HOUSEKEEPING that I mentioned can be improve.…
From my first step in the hotel, i already fall in love. Receptionist are friendly and eloquent. Next the room are extremely clean. All perfect. Next The buffet breakfast has a lot to choose from. There is pastries, yogurt, local delights such as Nasi lemak and the famous Penang Char Kueh Teow, egg station, fruits, porridge, cereals and juices. Plus coffee machine and teas. The Wembley restaurant has a total of three coffee machines. That's awesome. All the patrons has been provided with hand gloves. The restaurant manager are friendly too. This hotel had swimming pool, Gym facilities and onsite Reflexology Spa. This hotel location are excellent too. There is shop nearby left and right. Near many shopping malls. Check out are fast too. Fully recommended this hotel either for first timer or repeated customers. Suitable for Solo, Couples and Family.…
