This is the first time we have experienced Shangri-La and we were certainly impressed. The welcome and check in experience was excellent and the welcome drink was a nice touch. We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade to a sea view room in the Kinabalu wing - absolutely gorgeous and the view was incredible - the South China Sea...

We stayed for 7 nights as part of our honeymoon in September. This was our first time staying in a Shangri La Hotel and we had high expectations but although we had a pleasant stay we felt the service and overall experience was slightly underwhelming in comparison to other 5 star hotels we have stayed in. At check in we...

Very bad experience, especially with breakfast. 20 minutes waiting time, everything crowded with too many people. Only one Restaurant, buffet was empty one hour before closing breakfast, staff unable to manage the Situation. All facilities (e.g. pool chairs) to small for the hundreds of rooms and quantity of guests (most of them Chinese). Check out waiting time in a Queue...

We were surprised the resort is pretty near airport which I landed. Its about 7mins ride away. Was greeted by staff wearing local costumes playing music instruments. Rooms are clean and nicely renovated. Swimming pools seem to be very suitable for anyone. There are great kid's playing pool. Breakfast is not as bad as previous comments from others. Stayed in this resort in September 2013 with our 8 month old daughter, we were provided with bottled water which was safe to use in her formula every day, we also gave her a few bits and pieces ( bread & veggies) from the buffet. We recently spent 11 nights at Tanjung Aru resort, Shangri-la's delightful resort in Kota Kinabalu. The breakfast lived up to what was expected at a Shangri-la resort, although the breakfast restaurant was a little crowded at times, owing to it being school holidays in Malaysia. Some tables were too close together. The food varieties catered for all tastes and cultures....
