Beautiful, colourful island with lots of interesting and relaxing spaces. The villa we stayed in was spacious, with an Activity Wall with fancy items on it, a bathroom with a disco ball (#bathroomgoals!) and the sea life that thrives in the expansive lagoon, easily accessible from our villa staircase. The grounds were kept well, featuring lush garden and towering palm trees. Team members were always friendly, helpful, and fun to talk with (+++ points!) The beach was spectacular – one of the best beaches I have seen, plus the house reef was full of marine beauties. Highly recommended!

Hotel's Favourite
We have stayed in the Standard Maldives for about a week and it was one of our BEST vacations ever. It has been our first time in the Maldives and we are both still amazed by how beautiful this country is and how great the hotel was. Both my girlfriend and I would really recommend booking this lovely hotel. Our entire stay has been just wonderful. When we arrived to the airport a Standard Hotel representative was waiting for us which made things much easier. Our representative has helped us in buying a local SIM card (though there is WiFi in the hotel but we have wanted to have a SIM just in case), escorted us to the seaplane (such a beautiful view from the seaplane!) and has been super nice and attentive like all of the hotel staff employees in the Standard Hotel Maldives. When we arrived to the hotel the hotel staff waited for us, helped us with check in, offered a drink and Jason showed us around everything with the buggy and has been very helpful. We booked the overwater villa which is very large and the ocean view was absolutely amazing. There is a small private pool in the villa too which was super nice to have! There is also a big pool in the hotel which we loved going to as well 😍 The food has been super yummy! Especially if you like fish and meat. We also drank coconut almost everyday which was the tastiest coconut ever. There are also many facilities in the hotel, such as gym and spa (we recommends the hammam) and many interesting excursions. There are also many options in the water sports (we did kayak which you receive complimentary). Regarding the beach, it looks exactly like in photos. The water is crystal clear and its color is the prettiest light blue color. The sand is white and words cannot explain how beautiful it is 😍👌🏻 And most important - the hotel staff includes the most kind and amazing people ever. Everyone is so friendly and helpful that they’ll become your best friends! Everyone has been so so nice and kind to us that words cannot explain it. Maldivian people are the best! Aiman has been the kindest person ever, helping us with everything and making this vacation just perfect! And always with a smile. We’re very happy for meeting him! It has been my girlfriend’s birthday and he and the kindest hotel staff ever had arranged a beautiful surprises for her - they decorated a super romantic table for us at the restaurant we booked for dinner, with candles all around, prepared a birthday cake with candles and sang happy birthday and when we came back to the room the bed was decorated with happy birthday wish made from palm tree and a sparkling wine bottle was left in the room. It has been really a wonderful birthday! Aiman who is the best by all means, Aldo the coolest, friendliest and nicest bartender ever, Shifar who’s made every breakfast/dinner much better, Rizan and everyone who made this trip for us so amazing and beautiful we couldn’t thank you more. You are great and kind people, we thank you and we can’t wait to book another holiday in this beautiful island and great hotel! Highly recommended! Of course, the island is absolutely beautiful. The scenery and the hotel itself is stunning, but sadly the service is not great. There are some nice and attentive people working at the standard, Maldives — but those people aren’t very many. If you don’t have the all inclusive package, don’t even bother. It takes an hour sometimes to receive your ordered dinner in the restaurant. Our sunset cruise was cancelled due to weather and not offered to us again prior to our departure, which was highly unfortunate. The hotel itself is stunning, as stated, but the service and most (not all) of the food is quite bad. Definitely don’t come here expecting a 5 star hotel.

Please stay at the standard!! This island is completely idilic and photos will never do it justice. It’s kept in immaculate condition! TRANSFERS - Once you get to Male international airport there is someone literally with you from the hotel the whole time to get you to the sea plane. SERVICE - The service was incredible, all staff were so proactive and so friendly, we even had a dedicated host and would whatsapp random questions and nothing was too much trouble (thank you Yousef for handling all my random questions with a constant smile and fast responses). THE SPA - I highly recommend - please book it in advance before it sells out! I had sunburn so wasn’t sure a massage was possible and they used coconut oil and really helped heal me as well as help me relax and still have a gentle massage. FOOD - PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES: I am gluten intolerant and was nervous about all inclusive on an island, but the chef Louis (my saviour) was there every meal time to show me around the buffet options, let the specialist restaurant know in advance (thank you to the chef there Imrane), cooked me GF pasta, pizza, pancakes etc, they were amazing. I spoke with the executive chef and he says they are well experienced to help vegan, veggie, gluten free, coeliac, low sugar, diabetic, low carb, low salt, the list goes on. They were super understanding, and so accommodating. INCLUSIVE - We booked half board and changed to inclusive as you get money towards the 2 specialist restaurants and a free massage - and we drank all day and night so made complete sense if you are the same :-) As you can tell, this is somewhere I would recommend to ANYONE trying to pick somewhere to go in the Maldives. <3

My friend and I just came back from a Girls Trip to the Maldives and we are more than happy with our choice to stay at The Standard for so many reasons: Interior/Style: Everything on this island is very stylish and thought through - there are so many things you only spot at a second or third glance and you can feel that they put a lot of consideration in how things are arranged. The area around the main pool is just stunning and there are so many places to lay or sit down in the sun. This also holds true for the 110sqm Villas with their own plunge pool, enough storage room, and huge bathroom with two sinks, gigantic bathtub, disco ball light and see through floor areas to look at the underwater life while showering. To sum it up: rarely have we seen a place that looks even better than their instagram! ;) Activities: There are bikes on the island that you can use whenever you want. In general, the whole island is small and you can do a full walk around the island and the Overwater Villa wooden way in half an hour. We loved this! Every villa is equipped with snorkeling gear and you can access the ocean from your villa straight away but there are so many additional water sports to do that you will never get bored: We went kayaking to the islands own "Baby Island", Jet Skiing and tried Kite Surfing. You could also participate in many dive tours and other stuff which is just too much to mention. Everyone at the water sports center was very kind and they shared many interesting insights! Some activities are complementary when booking an all inclusive stay - we went for a Dolphin Sunset Cruise and loved it! On the island itself, you can book a time slot for playing tennis on the court, you could play table tennis, tube table tennis or hit the Gym. There's also many more repetitive or changing activities during the week. The Spa: When booking an all inclusive stay, the "The Standard Signature" massage is complementary. We loved it just so much that we booked another one as well as treated ourselves to some facials. You could really feel that the staff know their field, as they adjusted the treatments to our needs and made it individual to each of us. The pool and lounge area in the Spa is insane and for us one of the "hidden gems" of the resort since it was almost always just us when we sat down there with our books. The treatment rooms have a direct view of the ocean and are equipped top notch. The Food/Restaurants: The main building consists of three parts: The bar, the cafe and the main restaurant for the all inclusive-buffet. I saw some previous reviews that said the buffet wouldn't offer enough variety but we clearly disagree: For breakfast, lunch and dinner there were always numerous options available - ranging from vegetarian to meat and seafood, from local to Indian, Asian to European/Mediterranean. There were always some chefs doing live cooking and the desert area was a real highlight! There are two other restaurants on the Island, BBQ Shack and Guduguda: We have been there 4 times in total during our stay and we declared Guduguda to our favorite spot on the island. Sitting down on the comfy cushions overlooking the ocean was just beautiful and we even had a special "Thanksgiving Dinner" on our last evening on the island that was delicious! To top it of there is a sunset bar located at the very end of the island where you can just look at the ocean, play a game of pool or dance. Most important - the staff: While The Standard Maldives is an upscale resort, it never felt stiff or formal at all! This is not only because of the way the interior and all amenities are set up but because every single person we have encountered on the resort was just so friendly and open and with guest service as their top priority. Everyone did such a great job but we would like to highlight three people just so that they get the praise they deserve: Youssef from the front office greeted us upon arrival and was our main contact on the island for every need. Not only did he inform us about everything that was going on on the Island but he arranged places in the restaurant and activities for us and was always available via whatsapp which we consider a really great service. Whenever we happened to come across him on the island, he made sure to stop for a quick chat to ask if we are doing well and you could really feel how sincere he was. Youssef, you are just awesome, thanks for contributing this much to our stay. It also only took a few days for us to form a really fun bond with Hari from the main restaurant. He was so attentive, always in a good mood and up for a chat with us that it made every visit to the restaurant a highlight! Thanks for taking care of us so well! And then Minnie from the Bar - you were such a joy and your smile is really contagious! We loved to meet you and how your service at the bar made us feel like we are special! This review has turned out way longer than I expected but credit where credit is due - we loved every minute we had on this Island and want everyone to know! ;) See you soon!
