Felt immediately at home. nice painted hostel with a beautiful garden and pool. Spend one night in the bamboo hut and slept pretty well. In the morning I made the acquaintance of the coati Lucy who walked around in the kitchen. A place I can really recommend.

Wow. I was surprised finding that good hostel in a city that actually have almost nothing to offer to travelers. Friendly stuff, a lot of space, swimming pool, many plants in the garden, good internet, delicious pescaderia (local restaurant specialising in fish) on the other site of the road, dormitory in the tree house and couti living there! Its a...

Ive traveled all over the world and I can tell you that the best travel experieneces are not always where you think they will be. Sure, beaches and mountains are great but there are lots of hidden gems in places you might not expect. LIKE DAVID! This is authentic un gringonozed, un touristy Panama. How about a huge fish diner...

After a long day on the bus I couldn't end up in a better place! The owner welcomed and his staff welcomed me warmhearted and showed me around. You can choose between a beautiful natural treehouse or comfortable shared or private rooms.Chilling at the pool there was even a Coati joining us, this cute thing seems to stroll around the...

The hostel isn't in the centre of David but is 5 min of taxi from the bus station ( 3 $ ). Our room was large, confortable and very clean and also the Toilette (hot water in the shower). Staff friendly and halpfull. In front of the hostel there is a good and cheap restaurant. I suggest this hostel to...

Thanks for the 5 stars and for recomending Bambu. Our town of David is an important gateway to Costa Rica as well as Panama City, Boquete, and Bocas. If you are traveling by land to any of these places, you will need to stop in David. David is authentic, a real Panamanian city unlike Boquete and Bocas which has been...

There's not much to do in David, so if you're headed into Costa Rica or just on your way out, this place is a good shout for a couple of days' R&R before travelling: air conditioned rooms, nice little pool to lounge by, reasonably priced bar. A little bit out of the centre but taxis are $3 wherever you'd want...

We are always on the hunt for fun family friendly hostels and this had everything that we wanted: air-conditioned room, large kitchen, beautiful garden, bar, free wi-fi, swimming pool, secure parking and a supermarket just around the corner. Staff were very friendly, rooms and facilities were clean and it was close to the mall, cinema and everything else we wanted...

Perfect place to stop on the way through to Costa Rica. Tranquil gardens and the awesome pool made this an easy option for my stay in David. Brand new supermarket nearby and seafood right across the street(super cheap!), the location is awesome and the bar was a great place to unwind after days exploring in Boquete and Volcan. Great value...

This is a kooky hostel with a nice pool and outside area. The bamboo tree house is really cool but the room we stayed in was fine, a little insecty and beds weren't great but ok. The bar area is good for a few beers and the mascot and hostel cat are really cute. It's a little out of David...

Thanks. We are a bit kooky, haha I like that!! Bambu is certainly not your typical comercial hostel. Theres a bit of alice in wonderland going on for sure. The back yard is a fantasy, with exotic plants and flowers and a nice pool, tiki bar $1 beers, with paths to walk and animals to see. The hostel is very...

I came here one afternoon and was super tired. The city was really hot so I picked this hostel for it's AC so I could get some good sleep. The staff was super friendly but the dorm terrible. It turned out the AC was only turned on between 9 pm - 9 am, I wish they had told me this...

The reviewer wrote this because he was angry that we do not run the dorm room air con 24 hours a day. I dont believe it had to do with anything other than that. He was tired and frustrated and not having AC just set him off. During the day, our dorm room guests are out swimming in our pool,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
WE ARE A BACKPACKERS' HOSTEL, NOT A HOTEL OR AN INN OR LODGE We just completed a large out door kitchen with ten burners and loads of counter space all you need to create a gourmet creation (or a backpackers bowl of pasta) in the comfort and beauty of our flowing garden and pool.. When you are done following all the other tourists to Boquete and Bocas; come spend some time in David. This is real Panama. You will be interacting with Panamanians rather than always being around other tourists. This is a chance to stay at a super cool hostel and explore a real Panamanian city. Dance all night long to Salsa, Merengue, Rock and Reggaeton.. Great restaurants and shopping; and David is cheap!!!! 1/2 The price of Costa Rica. How about a $1 beer in a bar? David is a safe and friendly city too. Get your Latino on in David! New Jungle House in Garden at Bambu Hostel see photo below, built on stilts from native wood and bambu walls with tin roof, sleeps 10 backpackers and overlooks the sparkling pool, only dorm of its kind in Panama! Lonely Planet Recommended International Backpackers Hostel with a Pool and Deluxe tropical gardens in David Panama. We welcome Backpackers and International Travelers from all corners of the world. David is fun! It has everything that a weary traveler could need to recharge the batteries, fine dining, casinos, movie theaters, inexpensive shopping, nightclubs and discos, festivals, and, within 45 minutes, awesome mountains, Caldera Hot Springs, Playa Barqueta and Costa Rica. Come stay with us at Bambu, relax in the garden, swing on a hammock with a cold beer at the Bambu pool bar, dip in the pool and watch the tropical birds flying in the backyard. We have very few rules here, just come with a good attitude and have fun, but just remember this: If you think that you are going to have it all for a low price, think again. When you choose to stay at a hostel you need to accept the unwritten (until now) agreement of hosteling. The agreement is that there is a trade off. The deal says that you will receive a awesome travelers' community with lots of amenities, in our case, a clean luxury swimming pool, wifi, gardens with hammocks, amazing outdoor kitchen, laundry service, travel services, computers with skype, phone calls, books, games, a pool side bar with $1 beer, excellent and cheap seafood meals, etc . What you might not get is 100% quietness, privacy and comfort. That is the trade off at most backpacker hostels. ... more   less
