There are reviews that call this an old and tired resort. Not really. Its maybe an older hotel and being directly on the beach takes its toll - but its still solid. Definitely an above average hotel. Each room has its own air conditioner and...More
We only paid $60.00 at booking.com. You are paying what you get. Rooms are not the best, they are clean. Food is really good, the pool bar is not that fancy, you get beers and some drinks. There are no more hotels in the área...More
The hotel has a beautiful view of the ocean but is dated and expensive for what you get. They have a parrot in a tiny cage with no way of him seeing out. Very cruel and unnecessary. I would have rated the hotel higher had...More
The new signs interspersed along the road from David certainly help the first time visitor find their way. The layout of the hotel/resort provides every room a view to the beach and ocean and you can hear the waves all night if you left the...More
We stayed here only for one night as we were driving from Bocas del Toro back to Panama City. The property is off the beaten path so it is very quiet and secluded. View from room is amazing (ocean) and facilities are well maintained. We...More

Hi Mary H
Surfers look at swell forecasts, you could do the same but look for none to small waves. Try "Magic Seaweed" website for surfers - central america south - panama - la barquetta and look for days with no stars. Typically for this area calmer ocean months would be during January and February but could happen at any time. To be safe when swimming in the ocean never go past waist deep, sometimes the ocean will be flat for a while but waves may be on the way (waves come in "sets"). Buen viaje!
