RFE has really done it well with this location! I say to go NOW because the population explosion and gold mining in this area are quickly destroying the entire area. I have been going to Peru twice a year since 2001, the changes are amazing and very few good. This property is so far removed from Puerto Maldonaldo that one...

We really are happy about the days we spent in Refugio Amazonas. The experiences in all the daily trips we made were marvelous. The animals we could see because of the good sense of getting them of our guide (sorry I don't remember his name) was impressive. We made together every day the plans for the next trip, depending on...

Excellent place to explore the Amazon. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The food was great; it may have been the best food I had on my entire trip in Peru! The Macaw Claylick was breathtaking. Our Guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. It was extremely relaxing to just stay in the spectacular lodge as well. The only downside...

We stayed two nights at Refugio Lodge in Puerto Maldonado last December and it was a fantastic experience for the four of us (children 6 and 8). The lodge was very charming and comfortable, built with local materials, nicely done. Staff friendly and attentive. The bungalows are spacious and beds very comfy, with a nice mosquito net, nothing went through,...

This Lodge is truly a treasure. We were greeted, after a long humid boat ride, with smiling staff offering us cold wash cloths and a refreshing fruit drink. The whole lodge is open air and the lobby area is cozy and lovely. Our rooms were large and cozy. My favorite part of the room was the hammock - if it...

So our family, I, wife and two kids (20 and 16) spent four nights here between Christmas and New Year’s. We were met at the airport by our guide and a driver. The guide arranged for a porter to grab our luggage and then it was a quick 5 minute bus ride to the office. After a quick briefing and...
