This place was very unique. The accommodation is a glamour camping experience to the max. Hot showers, flushing toilets, good food (good, not brilliant), comfortable bed and....it had a bar where you could relax after searching for every manner of animal and creature. The staff were brilliant. Doing everything possible to accommodate our needs. Now..word of warning...this isn't the Marriott.... More

Having flown into Lima only two days previously, we four (2 long term friends with husbands) were all nervously waiting to see what the next 3 days held for us. We started with a minibus transfer, then a coach trip and finally a 2 1/2 hour motorised canoe trip right into the rainforest. This was an adventure on it's own,... More

My husband and I selected Refugio Amazonas as our luxury destination during our dream trip to Peru, which included three days in the Tambopata National Reserve. I can't say enough good things about this resort! It is breathtakingly elegant, natural (no exterior walls, so you are literally immersed in the jungle experience), and surprisingly comfortable. I was a bit nervous... More

The lodge was beautiful, food good, but the best part was our guide Timotaeo. We learned so many things about the jungle. We had a great time. Don't go in Aug or Sept. The farmers are burning & it's very smokey. Also, be ready for the heat & humidity. Don't stay in Puerto Maldonado unless you have to!

If you want to see the natural beauty of the Amazon, then I definately recommend staying at this resort. I was in Peru for 2 weeks, and my only regret was that I didn't book enough time at this resort. It is first class all the way. The guides, staff, and facilties are amazing. Highly, Highly recommend.

A very pleasant surprise to have great accommodation, good food and an overall wonderful experience. The rooms were spacious and in good condition. Great hot showers. The whole resort was in keeping with the environment and was well maintained. The menu was varied and delicious. All staff were helpful although I could not get a bloody Mary at the bar.... More

We had a perfect few days at Refugio Amazonas, our first trip to a jungle. An exciting boat trip to reach it, seeing wildlife on the way including macaws and a family of six baby caiman. The warm welcome talk from the manager was comprehensive and reassuring, telling us the practicalities we needed to know about the hotel and our... More
