I've been traveling solo in South America for about three months and got very sick in Puno. Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights trying to make the most of the time and recoup for the rest of the long trip. The first thing I was told was that the elevator was broken and it remained so for the full... More

The Taypikala Hotel Lago was the nicest hotel I stayed in while traveling in Peru. The room was spacious, the bathroom was roomy, the beds were comfortable and the view was to die for. The breakfast buffet was the most varied and had wonderful additions such as bread and a toaster. The triangular dinner rolls were a huge hit with... More

A fine 3 star hotel with large rooms including two large colonial chairs and space heater. The view from almost all rooms is spatacular! The hotel restaurant is 4 star. The chef gets dinner perfect with nice presentations. Other: 1. Hallway noise goes right thru the door. 2. Staff is very quick in handling minor problems. 3. An elevator is... More

We were on a 3-week tour of Peru and Bolivia and stayed in three hotels in the Taypikala chain. They were all, BY FAR, the best hotels of our trip. Each one was 4-5 stars by American standards. Our favorite of the three was Taypikala Lago. You can walk down to the shore of Lake Titicaca. Also, the gift shop... More

I traveled with a group, and this hotel took our breath away. This was only in part due to our progressing altitude reactions, meaning we became short of breath just climbing the stairs from the dining area to our rooms. The breathlessness was mostly due to the beautiful location, with amazing views of Lake Titicaca, plus beautiful landscaping and flowers... More

We stayed here as part of our trip to The Floating Islands and Isla Taquile. The views and tranquility were much more than we expected. The gardens are beautiful. The food was excellent as well. There are a lot of little places to sit and enjoy the views. There are some ruins and a small town with a plaza just... More

Meditative and Dream-like would the description for this place. One can enjoy a meal (breakfast or lunch) watching out to Lake Titicaca from the dining area and be in a dream at the same time. There are many places in and around the hotel where one can be immersed in deep meditation. The panoramic view from the dining area is... More

It’s not technically in Puno, but 20 minutes outside it in Chucuito – but still very accessible and the views going there are beautiful. The hotel is right on the banks of Lake Titicaca so you get gorgeous views of it from the front of the hotel. The rooms are spacious – I had one overlooking the lake – wide... More
