Don't be put off by the entrance. Inside it's clean, warm and very accommodating. They were very helpful and efficient with VISA invitations, price was excellent and they cared for their guests. I would gladly return.

Very good location in a quiet street, it's a 5-10 minute walk to the Kremlin. I really appreciated that the hotel sent an e-mail with directions. However, it's a 5th floor and the elevator was broken (it looks as it has been like that for a while). The bags were heavy and the recepcionist only helped for the last floor, so it wasn't pleasant. I stayed with 2 friends in a triple room, which was spacious and nice. The negatives: wifi was weak and the walls are very thin, so everything that's going on outside can be heard... If you just want a place to sleep and leave your clothes, it's ideal.

Nearby to Puskin Square and the metro, the hotel in a short walk along level pavements. The hotel sends a email with directions. Situated on the 5th floor of a building, accessible by a lift. Even though my credit cards had been taken on booking, and that the transaction would be completed on arrival, the receptionist declined my card and insisted on cash only. It was late evening and not expected. We were allocated room 24, situated at the top of a flight on stairs above the reception. The room itself was a surprise. Appeared recently decorated in light colours, it was light and airy. The shower was spacious and also appeared fresh. There are hot radiators to both rooms. There is good wifi. Downside: the door to the landing did not mask noise. Noise from the reception, the stairway, and other room landing doors was evident. This was especially disturbing between 02.30 and 02.45 when someone was either booking in, or leaving, the hotel. However, I would stay there again, if another room was available.

The Citadel Comfort occupies the top floor of a building off Tverskaya Street, less than a five minute walk from Tverskaya Metro and about 10 minutes walk from Red Square. There's plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, it is in a great location. The hotel only seems to have half a dozen rooms, mine had a sloping roof with a view of a back access road. The room had a new bathroom, TV, kettle and an electric oil-filled radiator. There was a double bed and a single bed, a table, chair clothes cupboard and a coat hanging or drying place. The rooms have free wifi which worked fine. If you just want a place to sleep and leave your clothes, it's ideal. There is a front desk with staff who speak English (and French), a small kitchen area with a fridge-freezer for you to use, a microwave and kettle, so you can self-cater. There isn't a restaurant, but you're 100 metres from The Beverley Hills Diner on the main street and they do a nice breakfast and it's not dear. The standard of decoration and finish is not always good, there was a centimetre gap between the tiles and the bathroom door frame and some of the paintwork seems to have been done quickly. The shower tray pooled water, the toilet made strange pumping noises and there was damage to the table top in my room. These were all cosmetic items, if you can live with them the hotel is brilliant value for an (almost) city-centre location. They give you a set of keys, an electronic key to get into the building to take the lift to floor five, a key to the hotel itself and a key to your room. The hotel emails you with how to find it, it's in an archway between two buildings, there is a sign on the wall but you'd not find it if you didn't know it was there. It's a budget hotel and it appears to be well run. It's not perfect, but the good points (price, comfort, good staff, location) clearly outweighed the poor finish. The staff are really brilliant and very helpful. If you want a budget hotel close to the centre this is a good choice. I'd be happy to use it again.

Not as expected, it's a hotel not suitable for families but only for students that can easily adapt. At least it has a great position, 10 minutes far from the Cremlin. Don't think I'll come back there in future
