We are just back from Moscow, where we spent a week and stayed at the Sretenskiy hotel. It was such a lovely experience! The hotel is small and comfortable, eight nice rooms and a beautiful breakfast room at the end of the corridor. The hotel is close to the metro and walking distance to the Red Square. The hotel staff is really great, friendly and eager to share russian experiences! Special thanks to Natalia and Maya ! No doubt we will stay again at the Sretenskiy if we are lucky enough to come back to Moscow !
This hotel is in a courtyard as its name says, but any difficulty in finding it is dispelled by the clear instructions on the website. Its appearance from the outside is unassuming. Inside you will find a welcoming, friendly, efficient and unstintingly helpful reception, comfortable and immaculate, well-serviced rooms with bathrooms - our family had three, a representative sample in this small hotel, a very satisfying breakfast with ample choices served at the time you nominate, access to tea and coffee and more at any time, all this provided with great charm and concern for your comfort. From grandmother to son, our family enjoyed our stay here in a location that is very central, close to a metro station and quick and easy access to Red Square. Thanks especially to Maya and Lisa for making us at home and for resolving more than one issue in a generous flash! This hotel is a hidden gem, unassuming perhaps, but great value in more then one way. It’s the inside that counts.…

I really need a good night's sleep and I unfortunately couldn't achieve this in the hotel. The room I stayed in overlooked a main street in busy Moscow and the windows were thin with the curtains so thin they didn't block out light very well. The hotel is also located directly above a bar which had live music and doesn't close till around 11PM. I also don't think you get much privacy in this place, as I could hear a couple ... enjoying themselves as I walked in the corridor. It's also not ideal that you have to buzz to be let into the hotel and there is no key system. This meant I was hesitant to stay out too late even though the staff assured me they would wake up to let me in. So to conclude; if the staff were able to get double glazing on the windows and install blackout curtains, it wouldn't be too bad but until then, I would avoid.…
