No reception on arrival. Had to ask a waitress to find someone to check in. The owner, Alfonso, checked us in without any welcome. He is not very welcoming and was the same both mornings in the breakfast room. The breakfast was Kellogg’s, English muffins and fruit. A very basic continental breakfast. The bed in the “touch of Italy” room was uncomfortable and squeaked . The room was nice and clean as was the rest of the inn. Got the feeling that the owners are tired of this business. Could be a gem but .......

We stayed here because it was convenient to a wedding at the Old Daley. The staff was harried--my opinion was because they were managing check-ins to the inn and working in the bar and restaurant at the same time. A worker yelled into the restaurant area for someone to check us in. The decor was 1980's, but clean and in good condition. The breakfast was store-bought pastries and coffee. Good store-bought pastries, but if you are looking for the home-cooked breakfast you usually get in a B&B (and especially one that is also a restaurant), you will not get that here. This experience was more like a budget motel than a B&B--fine, if you are just passing through, but definitely not a romantic B&B weekend getaway.

This past summer, my parents and I traveled to Averill Park, New York and stayed here. The service was outstanding because the staff was attentive, welcoming and kind. Due to their true display of the “hospitality spirit” our trip was one to remember.
If I had to think of one negative aspect of this trip (which is not an easy task), it would be the size of the room. Squeezing my mother, father and I into the room and bathroom was manageable, though definitely not easy. This issue was slightly frustrating, but easily forgotten once we stepped outside of the room we had rented in the charming bed and breakfast.
Every single member of the family running the Gregory House was kind and welcoming, though Alberto, the owner, was incredible. He not only was in charge of overseeing all that occurred in the hotel, but also served as the bartender and head chef of the La Perla Restaurant. While one would think this abundance of responsibilities would keep him running crazily in the back of the house, he somehow managed to go out of his way to make not only my family, but every single guest feel welcomed. The Gregory House (the hotel portion) runs a successful business, however the true gem is the attached restaurant, La Perla. I consider myself a foodie and have definitely consumed my fair share of Italian cuisine, so I can confidently say that both nights I ate there were the best Italian meals I have ever had and probably will ever have. The waitress (Alberto’s daughter-in-law) was attentive and kind, ensuring that we were satisfied throughout the entire evening. The food was fresh and clearly homemade, it was absolutely dream worthy.
Overall I believe that the Gregory House and La Perla Restaurant have an extremely positive affect on the small community of Averill Park in upstate New York. The restaurant is a definite destination itself, drawing in tourism. It is always filled with eager diners awaiting their delicious meals while chatting with the warm and welcoming staff. The hotel side allows for a convenient and comfortable place to stay when visiting the area, as there are not too many other places to stay in such a small town. It left a lasting impact on myself as well, showing me genuine good service and a true representation of what I believe to be outstanding hospitality. If anyone is ever in the Averill Park area, I highly recommend visiting the Gregory House or at least dining at the La Perla Restaurant.

Have stayed here a few times over the years. When in the area visiting family we stay here. A plus bonus is a excellent restaurant is attached. The Hostess is very friendly and always has a smile. It’s nice to have a safe clean place to stay when in the area.

I recently booked 3 rooms for my daughter's wedding at the Old Daley Inn in Sept / 2021. I booked 1 for my oldest daughter and her husband who flew in from Georgia, 1 for my sister and her son who drove down from Maine and 1 for myself and my wife. My sister's room had to be changed because the room they placed her in had water damage and smelled of mold and my daughter's room was uncomfortable. My wife and I had the king bed room and it was the worst night sleep (if any) I ever had. Not to mention upon arrival, there was no reception to meet me. There was a man behind the bar and a woman seated at the bar whom I assumed worked there but couldn't take the time to even greet us. Not to mention that there was no food service whatsoever. This is a bed and BREAKFAST. I would think that with the amount of money I paid for 3 rooms, we could AT LEAST have been offered coffee in the morning? And again, no reception on checkout. I could have gotten better service, a better night's sleep and a continental breakfast at the local Holiday Inn Express! Don't waste your time or your money at this place.

We stayed here because we were going to birthday party nearby. It was nice when we first got there. A lot of antques. It looked very clean. WiFi, I had 1 bar. TV only 1 channel. The next morning there were dead ants in our room. Then live ones and spiders. The owner was selling the next week. He didn't keep up with some things. Would have asked for a refund if someone had been there to check us out.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Gregory house. We love it. The rooms are quiet, clean, and very beautifully decorated. We would definitely stay again, and recommend it.

There is also a restaurant, but we haven’t eaten there yet. We plan to on our next trip.

La Perla provides excellent fine Italian food in a beautiful atmosphere. There are small cozy rooms for private dining, or providing small groups with privacy. The service is superb. Menu is large and offers many specialties, including local Buffalo Meat. They now have a new tavern area serving light meals and pizza. LaPerla is well worth the drive from Albany or anywhere!

We've been going to LaPerla for years now, it's our favorite romantic, special place. I was always weary of too many people discovering this hidden gem. Living locally, we've even stayed the night a few times at the inn. It's hard not too, the place is so magical, especially at Christmas time. The food is like no other in the Capital District. It's so hard to choose from the very large menu, but we do have our favorites - that we just can't do without. Anna Maria is simply the sweetest, most gorgeous woman. Sofia Loren has nothing on Anna! From day one of discovering LaPerla Anna made us feel like family. Alfonso, Enzo, and the staff of family and friends are so attentive, with each and very detail. I must say, a few reviews listed for my favorite place on earth disappointed me. Hence my taking the time to write my own review. I can only defend LaPerla by stating the obvious. This dining experience is like no other in the area. If you want fast food, don't go to Laperla, go through the nearest drive through. If you want excellent food prepared by the best chef - if you want romance and a leisurely evening, this is the place. Extend the magic and spend the night. The Rose garden room and the Adirondek are our personal favorites. Anna is truly gifted in her decorating skills. We just want to move in and never leave. Each visit is better than the one before, if possible. Take the time, experience the magic -fall in love again at LaPerla.
