Skyline Plaza Hotel is known as TianYi Hotel (天一酒店) to the locals and taxi drivers, and also listed as TianYi Hotel on Google Maps. It is next to Exit E of the MRT station “Second Workers Cultural Palace” (市二宫) on Line 2, although some will prefer coming out from Exit D because it has an escalator. It is on JiangNan DaDao (江南大道), the famous Wedding Street which has hundreds of street shops and shopping malls selling wedding gowns, tuxedos, dresses for bridesmaid, flower girl, page boy, shoes, veils, costume jewelry, etc. Since the Chinese wedding ceremony requires several changes of clothes for the bride, from Western to traditional Chinese, there is a wide range of gowns and dresses in the shops. Alterations of off-the-rack dresses take 1 day, but a tailored gown made from scratch will take 1-2 weeks.

Skyline’s location is superb for independent travelers who need the convenience of a MRT station at its doorstep, and also for shopping at the Wedding Street. It is also reasonably priced at USD53/night from Agoda for a Superior Twin.

Skyline is in a 26-storey building, of which about half are offices and half hotel rooms. Hotel guests and office tenants share the 3 internal elevators and 2 external glass elevators. Only 1 hotel floor (21F) has non-smoking rooms.

There are Chinese restaurants on 2F and 3F, but these attract locals who spend the morning over newspaper, Chinese tea and dim sum. Service was non-existent and the food took ages to come. After the first morning, we went to better restaurants elsewhere in Guangzhou for breakfast. Highly recommended for lunch/dinner are Bing Sheng Restaurant (炳胜酒家) in DongXiao Road, and Panxi Restaurant (泮溪酒家) in PanTang Road, all around CNY10 taxi fare from Skyline. About 20 meters west of Skyline, on TongFu Road, is Fenfang Desserts (芬芳甜品) which is famous for sesame soup (芝麻糊) and tang yuan (汤圆).

Room had an old Sharp CRT TV, safe, mini fridge, kettle, hairdryer, bathrobe, slippers. The bathroom was small, and one had to step into the shower stall to close the bathroom door. Unlike other China hotels, Skyline did not provide free bottled water, and we had to go to the 7-11 just outside the hotel to buy water. If you need more supplies, there are supermarkets TrustMart (好又多) and Carrefour, about 100 meters south on JiangNan DaDao.

Right in the middle of the wedding street. Just across the road of the MTR. Perfect location for those visiting the area to purchase wedding items. Opposite a McDonalds for the late night snacking and plenty of little restaurants/diners in walking distance. There are also a couple of stalls selling Stinky Tofu out the front, which can be quite pungent, but worth a try.

This is the 2nd time we stayed at this hotel. It was ok, cheaper than other 4* hotel. However, the hotel control the amount of time you can use hot water and the water wasn't hot enough. My elderly mum was not happy at all with the cool shower. There is no air con in our room, and it was very hot in the afternoon, so my mum has a terrible time staying at this hotel. Otherwise it was like a ok 3* hotel. Don't go there if you are a bit fuzzy.

Convenient and strategically located, just a minute's walk away from the Bridal Street. Convenience store and food just at the doorstep. That was about it. There were no facilities. Hotel reception staff weren't very friendly, however, concierge was very helpful. Rooms were dark and dingy. Air-conditioning wasn't at all cooling (it was about 30-38 degrees outside), room temperature was on average 25-26 degrees. Mini fridge didn't keep my drinks cold, but warm. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were not the cleanest, as there was grime on the bathroom tiles and basin. Shower was spacious, though. I would only pay for the location of this hotel, but not the quality.

Well this is hotel is located strategically near the bridal street. If your purpose is to buy bridal items from gowns, veils lighting, photography, jewelry anything this is the best hotel to stay. You have McDonald's right opposite and restaurants nearby, a hair saloon too. Hotel room was big and the price was reasonable. However it will be good if their staffs speak a little English. Basically communication was difficult all around however in a big hotel we expected staffs to speak little English. Overall stay was good. Recommended to stay here

The biggest pro of this hotel is the location. 2nd workers cultural palace. Right by an exit (check the exit boards)
Soon as you come out you can see it.

Check in was smooth. However need to leave 300 RMB deposit. Which is more than the room cost me

Room clean and comfortable. Wifi ok. Shower ok.

Some negatives. No water in the room have to buy it. Tv has lot of channels but no foreign ones. Bed was a bit small.

Didn't have breakfast so can't comment.

But the location is really useful to many GZ attractions

First time to visit this hotel. Only reason I booked it was to visit the wedding street and to have easy access to it.

I can't say anything great about the room, we asked for non-smoking and the receptionist said all the rooms were non-smoking but when we got to the room, it smelled heavy on the carpet and the curtains of smoke.

The room itself was very tired and not clean. I was afraid to take my shoes off as the carpet looked filthy. The aircon was noisy and the bathroom was very dirty.

The only good thing about this place was the convenience of it being walking distance to all the wedding shops. Shame that I chose a popular weekend to travel on as the rooms were double the price.

Don't expect anything spectacular here...

After reading some negative comments we were a bit skeptical about the property but planned to give it a try. Stayed during the guangzhou fair so the hotel was full.
They provide free shuttle to the and from the fair so its pretty convenient.
They hotel staff is exceptional very courteous and professional. I stayed in the executive rooms which were great.
Big comfortable beds clean sheet excellent five star.
Did not try the breakfast but u just walk out and everything is near by. The metro is right below the hotel.
The line 2 goes direct to the airport which is very very convenient.
You have 24hr attendants on every floor there for anything u need .
I would rate this hotel really good.

Second visit to this hotel. Location, location for wedding suppliers. Dresses, accessories, mens suits. You name it for wedding clothing and accessories it it is close by. NO FRILLS Rooms are large and basic. A bit tired and sometimes not so clean. But price and location and if you only want to sleep there as i did make it bearable. Bed was comfy and hot water. Very few if any staff speak any English. 7/11 downstairs so great to buy water, drinks, western snacks, yoghurt etc. would stay again for location. Small local food vendors are happy to feed you if you point. Restaurants close by but no English menus usually. Very few people speak english around this hotel. Banks close by, take a ticket and wait for up to 2 hours to get served for money exchange. Quicker and easier to do a withdrawl from a cash card or credit card from a machine. No seats or wifi in lobby make it difficult waiting for transport and pick ups. Best to do booking via net than direct even the if you want to stay extra nights. Would stay again though because of location. Chinese new year a few days away when i stayed, great decorations in lobby and streets near by.

Breakfast is not included. There are many restaurants beside the hotel. The restaurant nearest to the bakeshop has "yamcha". If by metro, allot 1 and half hours to reach airport station. By taxi, the same but depending on what time you leave the hotel.
