The hotel is neat and being somewhere to rest your head it manages that and more. The breakfast of juices, coffees and sweet bread with the occasional toast and fruit toast suffices. If you need more, convenience stores are nearby for milk coffees, fruit salad, yoghurt and assorted nuts.
The rooms are clean and neat, the staff efficient and friendly and all this for an economical price.
My main plus is that it's a 5 minute walk north from the main station (well in my case 20 minutes with inappropriate travel shoes and a heavy suicase over the ice ... )
My main minus is that it's rather characterless.
So overall - OK, a straight three bubbles. I think when I booked it was also good value for money, but I booked in an odd week).
There's a free breakfast until 9:30, but you'll only find toasts at 9, take your breakfast early for a chance to grab a mini croissant or two. Coffee was ok, but avoid the orange juice (served not cold, and industrial made taste).
The staff didn't seem to speak much English.
The room is simple, small but big enough for one person. There's no view from the window, not even the street or a parking, just a wall.
I had a problem with the TV in my room that didn't seem to work. I called the reception to explain the situation (in Japanese), the staff apologized very politely, hung the phone... But no one came to check the TV. I decided to try to fix it by myself and unplugged all cables in the back, and replugged all properly. It worked, but found dust and a used cotton swab between the desk and the TV set... gross.
The first night was terrible, I heard the person staying at the next room going to the toilet several times, and even the alarm clock at 6am and when this person took a shower.
I didn't have any neighbor the second night and could sleep better.
I had a note placed in my bathroom on the second day, I honestly didn't understand a word of it (check the photo).
I paid around 7000 yen a night, and for this price I expected much better. The overall experience was below the average.
Payment was done through a machine. Near the elevator, there's a cupboard where we could get the amenities like pajama that we need.
The room was clean and nice although as far as I remember I had a bit of difficulty in adjusting the temperature - but that could have happened in another hotel where I stayed in my trip... so don't take my word for this one.
The breakfast was simple but nice. After breakfast time is over, the dining room changes into a restaurant that offers meals that are quite large for its price.
1st arrive, the location is a bit difficult to find. 10 Jo Nishi Kitaku, but actually the entrance is located at 11 Jo 11条. The main door is quite small. Japaness business hotel.
The payment need to be conducted at the arrival into a vendor machine, unique!! You could get a Japanses sleepy pajama at the mini lobby by the elevater along with some other items.
The room was small, not suprising. Clean. Basic things business style. Warm enough. Good shower available. No view. Quite at Night for good sleep.
The breakfast is the mini quick coffee place at 2nd floor with comforting decoration. Quite some different small breads, juice drinks and newspapers available.
The location is good. Less than 10 mins walk to the main station of the city (subway, JR and central bus station). Convience store arond the corner. Hokkaido university just next door. Great place to have a walk or run. The local special goods store in the university open later in weekends.Saw a dinasaur exhibition there but didn't have time to enter. Pity.
The building itself looked old, but the bathroom was clean and the rooms were extremely clean. There was a welcome drink and breakfast included, it was cheap, and I'd like to stay here again if I come to Hokkaido University and Sapporo. Another plus point is that it's away from the city center.
