superb location with onsen, breakfast and free wifi. Only downside is they can only keep the luggages till 5pm. I am not sure why so as even some of the more humble B&B that I have stayed in allowed the luggages to be kept for a few days.

I had spent a couples of days at this hotel (Annex) last summer and returned this year. The location in front of the station makes it a perfect place to recover after the long journey from oversea. My room was first in the main building, floor 12 (women-only). It was indeed much better than the previous time. It was wider, had more natural light and toiletries were undoubtedly more refined. I was later given another room on the 13 floor which was even better. The staff at the front desk has greatly improved. They have been extremely kind and ready to assist. Two of them, a your lady and a guy, speak English. I once again recommend this hotel and plan to get back there next year.

Hotel Route Inn Sapporo Ekimae Kitaguchi is located just few steps away from Sapporo JR Station which is the main station in this area. From the hotel in walking distance you can reach the Odori Park, TV Tower, JR Tower and many local attractions. Hotel provide breakfast (Japanese style). At the basement floor you can find a public bath (separate between male and female bath) where you can take a dip into a hot water especially during the winter when outside temperature reached 0 c degree. Hotel provided free LAN Internet in-room (limited speed) and Wifi for free at the lobby (Much better speed compared with in-room LAN cable)

After staying at 5 different Route Inns during our 10 day trip, the Sapporo Route Inn was the least of my favorite hotel. We stayed for 4 nights. The breakfast entrees were extremely mediocre in comparison to the other Route Inns we stayed at. The dining room was very small and overflowed to capacity during breakfast hours. We waited for an hour and a half in our room for 3 mornings due to the overflow of people trying to get in. The breakfast entrees were extremely disappointing as it lacked the usual entrees like mentaiko, fried scallop and other tasty entrees which we had at Route Inns in Kushiro, Abashiri, Asahikawa and Hakodate.

The standards at this property fell far short of our expectations as compared to the other 4 locations. The dining room and public onsen facilities definitely need to be enlarged for a hotel that large hotel with an Annex.

There were only 5 wash stalls and 2 wash basins with hairdryers. People stood in line at all hours of the day and night to use the onsen. I ended having to shower in my room one evening because it was impossible to get into the onsen past midnight. I will look for another hotel during the Sapporo Snow Festival in February.

very good location, just 2-min walk from the JR sapporo station.
room size is acceptable. like the breakfast buffet, having said that it's a buffet, not so much choices really but good for us to warm up to start a day.
service is excellent. the staff are willing to offer assistance and trying to offer alternatives to guests.
would recommend this hotel to everyone going to stay at sapporo for effordable conveninent choice.
don't forget to get 2 free bottles of water from the front desk - save you much trouble to boil and open up the boiler on the desk inside a room that is not so spacious

I love how near this hotel is to JR Sapporo station just across the road only which makes travelling ard very convenient. It is a very basic hotel but with the free breakfast which was simple but nice, it is very value for $ hotel. Room is quite clean as well.

I was in Sapporo at a peak summer period, and couldn't get any other affordable hotels, so I went with this one. Booked it through Agoda.com, but when we got to the hotel, we were told they never confirmed it with Agoda, although Agoda has confirmed it to us. As a result, we couldn't get the room in the main & newer building, and got the older Annex instead. They also refunded Y2000 per night.

The annex was decent enough, but the worst thing is the aircon was awful. You can't adjust the temperature & it was the hottest summer in Hokkaido. The room was very stuffy in the afternoon. We complained, and they gave us a fan, which made the heat slightly more bearable.

Its location is the best thing this hotel have going for them. Really near to the JR Sapporo station, literally just behind the station. It's also near to Hokkaido University campus, which is a nice sightseeing spot.

Their breakfast has more variety & range than other budget hotels, and very filling, so I enjoyed the breakfasts.

Consider the nearest hotel/inn to JR Sapporo Station via North Exit with one Family Mart nearby.
Room 1202 was located at lady floor. Not much surprised, twin beds with basic amenities. Room quite small no extra space for table nor chair.
Free daily breakfast with direct booking thru Route Inn website. Lots of different Japanese dishes, 2 types of rice and even porridge served. Coffee taste bland, I think lobby free coffee taste much more nicer.
Worth the value for this price and location in Sapporo Station.

Picked this hotel mainly because of the location, basically to minimize walking in the cold, since my parents might not be able to take the cold for a long period of time. And just like what other travelers mentioned, it's literally a less than 5 mins walk from the JR Sapporo Station North Exit on the west side. We also tried the underground exit 8 from Level B2, which was also extremely convenient for people who would like to avoid the slippery icy road or to avoid getting shoes wet when the snow/ice melts.

We stayed in the main building. Standard Japanese business hotel size and style. We are quite used to this kind of size. Although it was a little challenging to lay two 25 inch luggage on the floor at the same time but we managed to move the furniture around to create space.

Bed was comfortable. Toiletries, towels, bathrobe, slippers were provided. I love to use their antimicrobial and odor removal clothing spray too.

Coffee machine readily available at the lobby 24/7. Breakfast buffet was good with wide selection of food, although they don't change the menu a lot each day. I love the Hokkaido rice.

Room was clean and cozy. No window view due to very close proximity to the building next door. Not too sure if it was because we stayed in a corner room, the room was always very chilly and it took time to warm the room up after we got back. Not too big of a problem for us, but might be difficult for people who can't tolerate the cold well. On the other hand, my parents' room next door was always too warm even though the heater was not even turned on.

Wifi signal was strong and consistent even though we were the last room at the corridor. Guess they have a router in every room.

Overall, will definitely recommend this mid range business hotel for my friends.

Hotel very convenient to JR Sapporo station (north exit). Next to hotel is Sunrus convenience store while across street one block away was North Gate Hotel and Lawson's convenience store. Lots of shopping and restaurants available in JR Sapporo station. Hotel check in begins at 1500 but they will announce when check in is available from around 1445. Buffet breakfast was available at restaurant located on 1st floor between 0645 and 0900. Restaurant was very busy for breakfast but the line moved quickly. Our room rate included breakfast so we were given breakfast coupon upon check-in. However at hotel restaurant was basically honor system whereby you dropped your breakfast ticket into basket upon entering restaurant. Breakfast items included potatoes, ham, sausage, salmon fish, scrambled eggs, rice, soft roll, pretzel roll, potatoes, miso soup, orange juice, coffee, water, fruit, potato mochi for dessert, salad, and etc. Upon check out, hotel will store your baggage only until 1700 hours on check out day. Directly across street at JR Sapporo Station north exit was other services like Ramen restaurant, massage shop and QB House 1000 yen haircut shop. Room basically had no window view. If you look outside window you only saw wall of adjacent building. TV only had Japanese channels (no English TV stations available). Free coffee machine available in hotel lobby during the evening and morning hours. Hot water pot in hotel room too. Very convenient hotel to JR Sapporo station.
