As mentioned by many, the location is ideal, smack in the city center. Near Odori park, lots of restaurants around, shops and things to see. To make justice to the hotel, despite not having its own car park, now it's possible to add into the bill the parking service in a multi storey car park just opposite the street (some reviewer mentioned in 2017 that the hotel had no car park, but facts change along the time, so the truth is that now there is a parking facility, as close as possible, just need to cross the road). Now, being a good place and having a decent room (not spacey but it seldom happens in Japan), would make it an ideal place to choose, being even fairly priced, wouldn't it? Well, there's a but (as in the title of the review): one of the worst logistically organised bathrooms that I've ever found - and I've seen many in 27 years of travelling around Asia. There a not-so-tiny step to take from the aisle and the bathroom. As you try to enter, the WC occupies almost all the space till the wall. So either you try to jump over it (starting from a lower level, remember the step?) or I set one foot in the minimal space available and then you turn like a classical dancer to try to bring the rest of your body (other leg) inside and step in front of a weeny sink. Same ordeal to get out of the bathroom. Imagine doing this when you're still moist, after a shower. Maybe I was just unlucky with the room I was assigned to. But there should not be any architech who studies - and then decides that it's good enough to use it without being a breakdancer - such an unpractical configuration of bathroom. The other - minor - thing, is this (but it does not really bothers me much): having placed the "make my room" magnetic sign to the door in the morning, i came back at night to find an odd black bag hanged to the outer handle. those were two clean towels. Nothing had been touched inside the room, bed undone as I left it, dirty, damp towels still in the tub. Well, an odd interpretation of what make my room means... Other than those two things, a good place to be. I was there for 3 nights and I paid the same amount (for the whole stay) of one night in Tokyo (ok, it's Roppongi and I know it's as dear as hell!). But if you get there, make sure to see the bathroom configuration, before checking into a room!

Perfect location, it’s a bit hard to speak to front desk as I can’t speak Japanese and they can’t fully understand me. Breakfast is good.. soup curry was yummy. Location is so good , next door to don quiote and right at tanukikoji shopping strip. Near odori station and 5 minutes from airport limousine. Room is so big as well, so this definitely make up for the dated decor. As for the 3 stars, the plumbing was a bit off in our room... we can smell it, but I know it’s just our room, and we can’t be bothered moving as we have so many luggage. My friend who is on the other room do not experience the same issue..

Pole town & underground shopping & supermarkets are very near the back entrance of the hotel . The back entrance of hotel also opens to a covered shopping alley for cosmetic shops & eating places. We took the airport bus that dropped near Susukino station & walked 10 mins to hotel . Staff was friendly & helped us book restaurant on New Year’s eve. We were happy with our stay & decide to return to stay here on our return trip from Niseko to Sapporo SH

Upon choosing this hotel, I considered location first then price. I was abit reluctant in choosing this hotel as the photos showed dated 3 star hotel. The reviews mostly were about how great its location is, but I didn’t find much info on anything else. Thank goodness it exceeded my expectations. We didn’t have to pre pay. The hotel sent an email asking for confirmation a day or two before arrival date . This gave me a peace of mind that they have my booking confirmed. Some of us did not apply for membership but during check-in it was swift and easy. On the other hand I applied for a membership and had to use automated machine which I was very reluctant. But it was so easy and done within minutes! They also gave some amenities for ladies which consisted of bubble bath, scrub, small warmer pack (it heats up and to put in pockets), cotton buds cotton wool. The room was as clean as 5 Star hotels. There’s also an air purifier in every room. If you don’t require towel changing nor room to be made, they offer you a coupon worth 500 jpy which I went out the back door and onto a 7 eleven convenient store to buy drinks. Win win for all. The hotel gets to save energy, Customer gets to contribute to help the environment as well as get 500 jpy worth (per day). The location is so good. The back door opens up onto a covered shopping street. The underground subway/shopping is just steps away!!! The famous Odori Park is about 10-15 minutes away by foot. The Sapporo JR station is about 15 minutes by foot. If the weather is good then walk on the street, otherwise walk underground. The receptionist always smile and not stingy when I requested for more ladies’ amenities. Overall very happy with this hotel. I’m not shy to say it is the same standard (actually even better, but excluding space and quality of furnitures and amenities) than a famous 5 Star hotel I stayed in London.

We are so happy that we stayed at Richmond Hotel Sapporo Odori! Great location because it is close to the sightseeing spots and closer to shopping centers! We need not use the subway a lot. The staff is very efficient and nice. Triple Room size is enough for 3 adults and 2 children. Definitely, we will stay here again when we come back to Sapporo!

ARRIVAL: • It will take at least 45 minutes from New Chitose Airport to their hotel via train, an hour via bus. You can contact them and they will provide you with the details on how to get from airport to hotel. We chose the train, but if you have a lot of heavy luggage, opt for the bus. We arrived a little early (11 a.m.) and the check-in time was 2 p.m. The hotel kindly offered keeping our luggage for awhile as we had our free time to explore the city as they were preparing our rooms. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Wi-Fi was free and strong, too. LOCATION: • Hotel location is perfect, smack-dab in the middle of the shopping, dining, and entertainment areas. Hotel has a back entrance where you have direct access to the Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade, a 1-km long shopping/dining/entertainment street. On your left, there’s an escalator down that will lead you to Pole Town, an underground shopping mall. This is convenient as it could also serve as your access to the Sapporo Station. Odori Park is only an 8 to 10-minute walk from the hotel, and you will pass a lot of restaurants and shops along the way, too. ROOM: • Room was outdated but clean. It felt cozy and warm, and beds were comfortable! Room was not spacious enough to open three big luggage at the same time, (as we were three young adults inside the room,) but it’s not much of an issue if you just take turns. Our room was located at the end of the floor so we had a small view. Bathroom was fine and the amenities that came along with it. MODISH CAFE: • This is the hotel’s restaurant. We took our breakfast and dinner here. I suggest you look into their lunch and dinner menu, their meal choices are delicious. My family of six had a pleasant two-night stay here and we will most likely book here again if we plan to go back to Sapporo.

What i liked about the hotel: - Location: great location along Tanukikoji belt! esp in winter.. we could avoid icy paths and chilly winds by walking the underground Pole Town and exiting after Kinotoya Bake into Tanukikoji and entering via the back of the hotel - Price: compared to other Sapporo hotels, Richmond is very reasonably priced What could be improved: - Room view: we had a room which opens up to a wall but we were prepared after reading reviews didnt matter to us since we were too tired to view outside the windows - strict check out policy: not sure if its standard across japan hotels but i usually could get late check out on hotels in other countries or at least a 15-30mins grace period esp when dealing with sleep deprived kids but Richmond has a strict check out policy where they charge automatically after 15 mins (or so we were told) - house keeping: we were confused. on some days we got complimentary bottles of water on some days we dont (we stayed for 4N) Other than those, we enjoyed the stay this hotel is great for budget seekers who just need a place to sleep would definitely return to Richmond

We had 2 rooms, double 913 is a bit small and located just right In front of the elevator. My triple 916 is just fine with 2 singles and one sofa bed, located at the end of corridor. No drinking water was offered but if you put up ‘No Make Up Room Today’ , the hotel will provide drinking water in return on the day with fresh towels. Tanukikoji Shopping arcade is just behind through the back door. There are so many restaurants nearby and Don Ki is just next door. Subway entrance is just around the corner to Sapporo Station (we used this to avoid the snow) with plenty of shops to do the shopping down there. The Hotel is close to O-dori Park where the Christmas Market is held till 25 December to try German sausages etc. Airport shuttle bus stop is only a few blocks away which is 5-minute walk , opposite the Hotel Sunroute. Staff were friendly, the housekeeping staff was not good in English but theywere very helpful.

Perfect location. Close to everything like subway, shuttle bus to airport, Don Quixote, restaurants, shops and so on. The room is very comfortable. I like the bathroom as it is warm enough for me. Breakfast is satisfying enough. It was perfect for my family of 2A2C.

Stayed 2 nights in late April to fly into our Hokkaido holiday. 1 night in a double room (small, can open up 2 just barely); 1 night in the twin room for just ¥3,000 more and definitely more spacious). 1) Shopping: walk through the restaurant and there is the covered shopping street; the 24 hr Don Ki is right beside the hotel. If you forget to bring anything, do not worry, you can get it here in Donki. 2) Food. Our hotel booking didn’t include breakfast but we ate in the hotel both mornings as the breakfast was really decent for ¥1,200. Value for money compared to other hotels. Delicious too. We love the moscato grape jelly. Restaurants easily found. 3) Rental car: rented a car from Toyota Rent-A-Car with a pick up from Sapporo Station. Easy walk of 20 minutes to the location. Beware that there are 2 Toyota shops, one just out side the station and another one opposite the first shop. 4) Room : Clean, decent. WiFi was fine on the 3rd floor but was poor on the 7th floor. I would stay here again if I come to Sapporo, in a twin room, if I am traveling with friends
