Spent 2 nights at the Livemax Hotel in one of the smallest rooms I’ve ever rented. At probably a little over 100 sqft, it was about $1.50/sqft per night. Service was limited. On check-in, you receive a complementary bottle of water. When I went to ask for another bottle on the second day, using Google Translate, “oh, you mean a plastic bottle of water”, the desk informed me there was a vending machine on the 2nd floor. I even offered to pay her for the bottle she had in her hand. No luck. I was surprised at the TripAdvisor ratings on this hotel (4). I gave it a 2 only because it was fairly new (taxi drivers don’t know the location) and in pretty good condition. With the impending 2020 summer olympics, the hotel chain will need to up their game, particularly with English language skills for the tourists they’re expecting. …

The staff were friendly and helped us to get around. Nakajima Park is beautiful and the city centre with all kinds of shopping is just around the corner. Great price for the location and facilities. Plus is that breakfast was included in the price.
