Our group has two kids and an elderly. Mitsui is our last stop in Hokkaido and we arrive late from a long drive at around 8pm. Everyone is pretty tired. While we are dragging in the luggages into the lobby, the two only staff at front desk gave us a glance and look back onto their screen (no other customers they were serving at the moment, lobby was empty). Anyhow, we drag our luggages in and I started checkin. The girl ask me how many people are there jn my group, and I told her we have 3 adults and 1 kid (1 below 3 so doesn’t count). Then she tell me the booking confirmation only stated there are two adults (we are booking two two beds-room) and we need to pay the extra charge for one adult and one kid. I’ve told them I’ve made the choice of right number on the booking platform and yes I didn’t double check on the booking confirmation number. After a long struggle, I stated that it’s late and we had a dinner reservation for a special occasion, maybe we can let the booking platform to clarify with you. The front desk girl then directly called the booking platform and push me the phone. What an experience. So okay, I explained again and the booking platform say they will deal with the hotel. So I tell the front desk again. And she doesn’t seem to understand. I said why don’t we just leave for dinner first and you all resolve with the platform. (We have been struggling for already like 40 sth minutes.. haven’t said the kids and elder are standing next to us and they ignored). After we return from dinner, they stopped us at the front desk and show me an A4 paper, like a letter, with the first paragraph stating we have to settle the additional charge before we use their hotel service. I’m like what?! I’m fine with whatever after they settled with the booking platform but obviously I haven’t get a reply from the platform yet and we have paid the original room fee. And we aren’t leaving?! They can for sure get our credit card and settle extra charge upon checkout. I’ve no problem with paying the extra, which I admit I haven’t double check with the booking, though the booking platform has stated the same price for one room with two adult, so I consider it should be fine. But yet the act was pretty rude. My girl even ask me if we are going to stay on street as the staff looks threatening. Anyhow we are tired and don’t want to argue, just paid and get up to the room. I decided to deal with the platform instead, as the front desk can’t really understand English. They keep using a direct translating machine to talk to me…. So on the day of checkout, I realised I should get that “letter” as a documentary proof so I ask my husband as he paid that night. He said the staff immediately retrieved the letter that night and didn’t even give a receipt after his payment. I then called the front desk again and ask them to get the letter for us so we can have it before we check out. This is another two hours struggle, and finally they refused to give us back that letter but just a breakdown of payment. Probably they realised that the wording was too rude and the terms they note down “no use of service before payment” can make them a scene. Anyhow they greet us at the door upon departure… PS there are two other incidents 1. the room toilet has really bad smell, I didn’t complaint, too tired to talk with them anymore 2. The hair dryer was out of order and we called the house making , and he replied “why was it broken” we are like how do we know, just no wind coming out. And upon they come over to retrieve it, they examine the dryer by flipping up and down, seems like trying to see if we dropped it and caused the damage. Maybe we have bias but can’t they just take it away and get us another or simply apologize for no stock… whatsoever.. anyhow not again. We nearly want to move to Keio Plaza Which is just opposite and looks a lot a lot more decent

mitsui garden hotel sapporo west - convenient, quite centrally located - 2 blocks if get up from the underground walkway of Sapporo train station (west side) which is quite convenient (the original mitsui garden hotel sapporo is next to it) - the size of room is larger than the usual japan standard - shower is seperated from the lavatory, washing basin outside the shower/lavatory - i personally like the colour tone of the room (light decent blue) - public bath/onsen is indoor, size around 5m x 2m, modern design, quite decent

We stayed in this hotel from 28 May - 2 Jun 23. The hotel is clean, spacious and very accessible. It’s just a 4-min walk from the Sapporo station. There’s lots of restaurants and cafes within walking distance and not to mention the places of interests and shopping malls. The breakfast was really good despite not having lots of varieties. We enjoyed the crepes and in particular the hot chocolate. Kudos to the front desk staff who were ever helpful and did not get tired of our questions, no matter how trivial they were. Would like to give a special shout-out to Chiharu Yatsumonji San who assisted us with our room aircon. She was extremely courteous and helpful and even told us to go to her if we need any help. Her excellent customer service really warmed our hearts and it’s also a plus for us as she spoke fluent English. With the accessible location, good breakfast, excellent customer service and the reasonable price, we will definitely stay here if we ever come back to Sapporo again.

Thank you very much for your recent stay with us. We would also like to thank you again for your feedback on your stay with us. We are sorry that our breakfast menu was small and did not meet your expectations, but your compliments about our staff are most encouraging and we are honoured by your kind words. We immediately checked with the relevant staff member and he vividly remembered how he handled the air conditioning and how much fun it was to have a good conversation with you. And although we were sorry to hear about the compliments we received from our customers, we were very honoured and very happy to see them again next time. The entire staff will continue to work hard to make the hotel a place where our guests are satisfied with their stay. Please stay at our hotel next time you come to Sapporo. Thank you very much for your kind words. Mitsui Garden Hotel Sapporo West Manager

The hotel is located close to Sapporo JR Station and only needs to cross two blocks. If you go to the underground shopping mall or the road to Odori, Tanukikoji and Susukino, it is 10 to 15 minutes away. The hotel staff are all very friendly. They introduced the hotel facilities and floors and daily check-in hours in detail. When we checked out, the staff asked us to use the self-service machine. The self-service machine also has Traditional Chinese options, which is really convenient for travelers. After entering the room, I felt that there was a lot of space. We booked a room with two single beds. The beds were comfortable and there were two pillows, one soft and one hard. The hard pillow was strong enough to suit my needs. The room has a double-seat sofa and a coffee table. The paper cranes on the coffee table are held by hands and are small gifts given to guests by the hotel. There is a small water bar in the closet, and bottles of mineral water are provided every day. Open the cabinet door above the water bar and you will find a mini refrigerator. The refrigerator does not have enough freezing effect, but it can keep the soda cold. The UCC ear-mounted coffee is placed in the cabinet below. bags and tea bags. The bathroom is spacious and has enough space for changing clothes. The water pressure is strong and the hot water is hot enough. After walking in the snow for a day, it is really refreshing to go back to the room and take a hot bath. The hairdryer is powerful and has an acceleration function. It's really Can blow dry short to medium length hair in just one minute. There are nylon bags in the room for guests to bag clothes, towels and other personal belongings, and then they can go to the large bathing room on the second floor. If you want to go to the large public bath, you need to use a room to enter, and the room card is divided into two colors, red for male guests and white for female guests. Don't make a mistake. The TV in the room can connect to YouTube, and you can also see the use of the large bath. The hotel provides Hokkaido farm products for breakfast every day. The dishes include Japanese and Western dishes. Japanese dishes include soup curry, soybean soup, rice and fried foods, etc. Western dishes include salads, croissants and various meal packages. Buns are available. Reheat the toaster, but I am a little disappointed that there is no seafood and sashimi in the Japanese area for guests to make homemade rice bowls. In addition, there is a dessert section with ice cream, milk pudding and ready-made pancakes, but the pastry chef only keeps making salty pancake rolls. I was really disappointed after eating them on the first day. It was not to my taste at all. From the second day on, I Ask the pastry chef for a regular pancake, and then make your own sweet ice cream pancake. The restaurant has an instant coffee machine and the coffee is very delicious. After 3 p.m., the coffee machine and two bowls of snack baskets will be available for guests to pick up and enjoy in their rooms for free. The overall experience at this hotel is very pleasant and comfortable. I will definitely book a hotel under this brand again next time I come to Japan.

I really like the condition of the room. Closet, sofa, humidifier, etc. The location is good and I'm staying here again. Last time, the breakfast selection was substantial, with rice accompaniments, etc., which I liked, but this time, there was only pickled plums and natto. The only thing that caught my eye was the live kitchen crepes, but other than that, the breakfast level was on par with that of a business hotel, which was disappointing. Next time, I won't be adding breakfast. Is it because more foreigners are using the hotel? In the large public bath, most people jump into the bath without even washing themselves or pouring water over themselves. They spray the shower all over the place while standing. Chairs and buckets are scattered everywhere, and the changing room is messy, so I couldn't help but clean it up, and from the second day, I used the bath in my room. It's inevitable that people don't know the proper etiquette, so I wish there was a clear warning. I like the room, but I'm not sure about using it again.

I checked in during the rain, but they realized I didn't have an umbrella and lent me one. This is a very thoughtful hotel.
