This hotel is owned by Japan Rail that owns many other hotels around Japan in railway stations. It sits in Sapporo's main train station where you'll find all kinds of shopping stores and restaurants. All you need in one place. They have many rooms which are small but comfortable with a typical Japanese bath/shower. Excellent location in the heart of the city close to just about eveything and only 30 minutes by train from the airport.

I went to the onsen of this hotel. It was relatively expensive for an onsen but it was just incredible - the onsen facilities are top level, offering the BEST view of the city that I have seen (right on the upper floors of the JR tower). Highly recommended if you are interested in some pampering and relaxing in the middle of a tiring week.

We sincerely thank you for choosing to stay at the JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo on this occasion. We are happy that you were satisfied with Pulau Bulan, the sky resort spa on the 22nd floor. The spa makes use of a natural hot spring that gushes out from underneath the south entrance of the JR Sapporo Station. The spa is also a relaxing space in which you can feel at home while enjoying a sweeping view of the Sapporo metropolitan area below. From the bottom of our hearts, we await your next visit.

The hotel is well located and clean hotel. My husband would have wanted a gym, but he enjoyed the onsen and relaxation room very much. If you are traveling with a family, connecting rooms are limited. Since all connecting rooms were sold out, the hotel made an effort to put our family's two rooms side by side. The concierge staff were all very efficient. The shopping was pretty good.

The JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo is a luxury hotel of the Okura Hotel Group, and is very conveniently located in the JR Sapporo station. The hotel has 342 rooms on the 23rd to the 34th floors of the JR Tower. The 35th floor consists of the Sky J restaurant/bar (buffet), and the Tancho Japanese restaurant. The Lobby Lounge is the first floor lounge where you can have High Tea and desserts at 1 pm along with light meals at lunch and dinner until 7:30. Accommodations are very nice, with comfortable beds, air conditioning, Japanese style separate bath wash area and tub and amenities, bidet toilet, flat screen TV, wi-fi and LAN connections, sofa, refrigerator, trouser presser, safe deposit box, and much more. Spectacular views from rooms and the 35th floor. There is a spa on the 22nd floor"Pulau Bulan" complete with hot spring, jacuzzi, sauna, relaxation area and other services like massage, hair and esthetic salons.

Staff is friendly and terrific in customer service from the bell staff to the front desk staff, to the housekeeping staff, and to the food and beverage staff-all are customer service oriented. The food quality and quantity is very good. It was a very pleasant stay.

We have always try to stay at or very near the main train stations in our travels to Japan cities. As such we choose Nikko JR Tower for our stay in Sapporo. The location certainly did not disappoint us. Easy access to trains for moving around. The connected malls are as good as any in other parts of Sapporo.

For us the hotel just managed to get a five star ratings. The rooms are great albeit a little bit small. The bathroom needs a bit of modernization in terms of finishing in our opinion. Four of us, two adults and our two kids age 11 and 13 managed to squeeze into a corner room meant for three. The hotel is kind enough to let us do that as long as the kids can make do with the available beds. We decided to squeeze as we were unable to get connecting rooms. Those planning to get connecting rooms need to book very early. We travelled as a party of two families and the hotel was nice enough to allocate rooms at the corners nearest to each other.

They have both set and buffet breakfast. The food quality at the buffet is very good even though it is not a very large spread. The view at the restaurant is very nice and there is no need to head to the tower observation deck.

The biggest plus point of the hotel is the friendly and helpful staff. From bell boys to concierge to front desk, all provide top notch services. They are also highly efficient. We left in the middle of our stay to spend a few days at a ski resort and parked some of our luggage at the hotel. When we returned our parked luggage were already in our rooms without us having to retrieve it ourselves.

Starting with the obvious, the location of the hotel, above Sapporo train station, can't be beat. There are two subway lines underneath, connected by a shopping mall that allows you to walk to the Susukino area without stepping foot outside. We stayed in a Corner Room, which is a good size. Our rate included breakfast, and there's a choice of western buffet or japanese breakfast. We tried both, and the buffet was a much better deal. It has many japanese items as well. There is a 7-Eleven right around the corner for added convenience. The staff speaks very limited English but they do try hard to be helpful. I'd say they are proactive and observant, as one day a huge group of tourists arrived and they quickly ushered us to a waiting elevator so we didn't have to wait behind them.

Perfect hotel for a long weekend in Sapporo. The hotel is conveniently connected to JR Sapporo Station, and while the entrance is a bit understated, it’s very easy to find on arrival in Sapporo. JR Tower is the most interesting part of Sapporo City, minutes away from nightlife and lots of restaurants/attractions.

Our room had a beautiful view and was small, but well appointed. We also found the service to be excellent.

Check in and check out were easy. PayPay and other forms of electronic payment are accepted.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the main train station, and the high floor rooms have beautiful views of the city and mountains. While we often stay at hotels in the $350/n range, this one doesn’t hold up to that value for a few reasons. The bathrooms are finished like they are in a hospital (seriously, it’s off-putting), and despite having a tower, the property does not have a lounge. You need to wait for a table in the restaurant to order a drink. The concierge and bell staff are very helpful and professional,,,some of the front desk personnel project an unfriendly demeanor, which is uncharacteristic for quality Japanese hotel.

A great hotel right in the centre of the city. Lots of underground arcades of shops and not far from the Snow Festival. Train station straight underneath the hotel. We travelled from Chitose airport to the hotel without going outside into the cold weather.

Very nice, large (600 odd rooms) and pricey Okura Nikko hotel in great Sapporo location for train access. Room sizes vary a lot even across the same price levels. Very handy 7/11 at bottom of hotel external elevator. Many good restaurants on level 6F of station complex - much cheaper and varied than hotel options.

What’s the difference between moderate twin room and executive twin room?
Answer from steveamcb
Perth, Australia732 contributions364 helpful votes
Not sure to be honest. Often I find the differences can be quite small with hotels in Japan (eg slightly better view) and hence not really worth the extra cost. If it's a larger room, then of course that may be beneficial. I've also noticed that some 3rd party hotel agencies will sometimes change the name of the room type (from that used by the hotel) to make it sound better. If you cannot understand the difference via room descriptions online then best to email the hotel directly. They will reply.

I'm not sure what rates will be charged in 2018. However, I recommend booking your rooms months in advance. We saved on room rates booking 6 months in advance. The festival grounds are walking distance from the hotel. I think we walked about 1/2 mile to see both. We visited the snow festival first, then walked to the ice displays. It's actually a great way to see the city. There are lots of shops and restaurants along the way. I'm not sure you'll need hotel arrangements to see the festivals. You can take a taxi, if you prefer not to walk.
