The once luxurious hotel has gone through many years and has been restored to new condition, but it is still a bit old.
First-class customer service, the room is larger than the average Japanese hotel, but unfortunately it still feels a bit shabby.
The location is excellent, at the end of Susukino area, just a few minutes walk to Tanukikoji, right next to the Nikka billboard.
The price is very cheap, so it is a good choice if you want to stay in a large hotel without spending too much.

My daughter and I used this hotel as a base while we spent a few days exploring Sapporo. It is very conveniently located for getting around being a short walk from the nearest metro station and tram stop. We arrived after travelling for nearly 24 hrs, so we were grateful it was easy to get to and find. The staff that we intereacted with were friendly and helpful, although it should be noted their level of English varied. We expected and understood this, as we have travelled in Japan before but I thought I should mention it as I know some western travellers can find this a surprise.
The room is typical of a business hotel style in Japan, and was fine for the two of us, however neither of us are the largest of people. We had enough for our two large suitcases but only one could be laid out at a time, again not a problem, just letting people know. The exterior of the hotel is currently being done up, so our external window was 'frosted' and we couldn't see out. The bathroom is typically bijoux and the toilet flush was loud and long, again just for reference. We found the beds and pillows pretty comfortable and there was very little noise during 'dark' hours.
We didn't opt to have the breakfast buffet, so cannot comment on that, however there are a huge selection of places to eat and get food within a short wlaking distance.
Would be happy to stay here again if I was in Sapporo.

We spent our winter holidsy and stayed for 6 nights in this hotel. It is a huge hotel with numerous numbers of rooms and located in the heart of Susukino area. I highly recommend room to be in higher floor for a nice view to see snow rainfall. A typical small japanese room clean and tidy. It is also very close to Susukino station for two minutes walk and to see the snow festival at Susukino street. There is one supermarket offering reasonable prices for food and grocery. We will definitely come back to this hotel on our next winter holiday.

reception staff name 岡田厚生 is very rude to my wife when we are check out from the hotel.
We travel with 2 kids ( total 4 persons)
First, I was away to pick up a rental car and my wife return the key to the counter and this reception guy 岡田厚生 told that  payment yet settle which we thought that Booking.com is charging to my credit card.
岡田厚生 is very rude and told my wife " money and pay to the hotel "
Immediately, my wife called me to verify the payment issue. During phone call (between my wife and myself), She just moved a few step ( still at the reception counter ). This 岡田厚生 immediate went and stood behind my wife and say  " money and pay to the hotel ".  That's supper RUDE and We dont expected this can be happen because As OUR impression, Japanese is "Polite", unfortunately this is not apply to 岡田厚生.

Hello !!!! how can a woman with 2 kids can run away ????

Once I arrived the Hotel, I went to the reception counter to verify the issued. It seen that this guy 岡田厚生 scared to talk to me and quiet even though I asked him " Why you stood behind wife " and Are you scared we run away ?  and I asked again, Do you speak English? If you don't, Get someone can speak English and talk to me.  Anyway He can't speak English.

I wanted make a statement here, If we wanted to cheat on the payment,  We wouldn't go to the counter and return the key.
We can just walk away since the Hotel doesn't collect the payment from us.

That's supper RUDE and We dont expected this can be happen because As OUR impression, Japanese is "Polite", unfortunately this is not apply to 岡田厚生.

Pros: The hotel is very close to Susukino station, Odori station and other attractions. The price is reasonable (value of money).

Cons: We stayed 5 nights there before we went to ski resort and 4 nights after we came back from the ski resort. Breakfast menu is not changed at all during our stay (total 9 days).

We stayed in Sapporo Tokyu Tokyu Inn for 1 night, before heading to Niseko for skiing.

Rooms were small and smell of tobacco (both typical of Japan though). Bathroom was tiny (travel lodge size) but well equipped (heating toilet seat etc). One nice extra was a programmable massage chair in the room, which my husband and I fought over.

Most guests were Japanese businessman. Staff was polite and friendly, spoke very little English but tried very hard. I could write Chinese characters so I communicated using that together with my broken Japanese. Breakfast was not included so we didn't bother. There were so many nice cafes just around the corner anyway.

Location was great. The hotel was connected to a small shopping mall with good restaurants and cafes. The Susukino bus stop for Donan bus (to Niseko) just outside the door. Tube station also very close. Taxi from Sapporo JR station takes <10 min (rush hour). Sports shop nearby which sells ski and snowboard gear and equipment.

It was freezing and slippery outside, and the streets seemed so very unusually quiet, until we found an underground walkway (accessible through the Susukino subway station) called Pole Town, which was thriving with pedestrians who stayed out of the cold. It was more than a walkway, lined with shops and cafes. Pole Town turns into Aurora Town, which connects to the Odori park. How we just missed the snow festival, arriving on the day that they were clearing up, so the Odori park was closed as well. Zan nen desu ne (what a pity).

We loved the Esta shopping mall (close to the JR station, 10 min walk from Odori park). Had lunch at the Ramen Republic (10th floor), a food court specialising in noodles from across Japan, but looked more like a theme park. Big Camera (1st-5th floor), an enormous electronics store, was a wonderful place, not just for my husband, but for me as well. They had demonstrations of all things wonderful - we saw WALL-E - an automatic, programmable vacuum cleaner as small as bathroom scales.

Overall, Tokyu Inn offers good value, compared to the pricey hotels next to the JR station. If you don't mind the short initial taxi trip (or subway, but difficult with luggage, especially snowboard), the location is perfect for exploring this quiet and charming city.

to be fair, i will say the good things first. the location of this hotel is perfect, just 3 mins from the exit 4 of subway station susukino. many good restaurants nearby (in fact this hotel is just above a restaurant plaza so you would have plenty of choices).

however, the very bad experience that i had was about the extremely unprofessional and unfriendly manner of its staff in handling our complaint about the heating room mechanism. it was about 10-13 degree outside but they shut down the centralised cool air-conditioning and turned on the heating system making our room hot like a summertime without any air-con to cool it down nor allowing us open the window to let some air ventilate. one simply could not breathe in the room should you turn the "hot air-con" off while no fan and no other way to get cool air into your room. we called the reception by phone, no one picked up our calls. i did go down to the reception table at 11pm on 7 october 2016 and 2 guys were on duty. i talked to the older guy about the problem we encountered, he kept saying "no", "i don't know", "it's that", "outside very cold", "no", "i don't know". i truly don't think he understood english well so i invited the older guy to come up with me to understand what i was saying easier. he refused. i insisted as he had to understand what problems the customers found and it's not right to just ignore your customers by saying "i don't know" and "no". he then talked to the younger guy who then showed a disgusting facial expression and talked in japanese. after some back and forth process, the older guy agreed to come up. when he entered the room, i am certain that he could feel how hot it is and no air ventilating. however, the only things he said were again "no". and the only way to get cool air in is to open our door as we were not allowed to open window. how ridiculous. and he wasn't wanting to help us with anything but just rushing to leave our room. is this how they trained their staff to treat their customers? i now read some previous reviews where i saw many people also felt unsatisfied with their staff' manner.

turned out i couldn't sleep that night in this very hot and suffocating room.

i have to say, all other staff in other japanese hotels are truly helpful and they really wanted to help you look into a problem even they might not be able to solve it. this is what disappointed me most when this hotel staff even refused to understand or listen to our problem.

given the same price, you can get a number of other hotels which also locate at this convenient spot, so it's not a must to book this hotel.

will not recommend anyone to visit this hotel unless and until they do something on this staff attitude matter.

Booked the hotel through CX holidays at very reasonable price. However, the twin-bed room type is never available! Know why? Cos the hotel keep it for up-selling purpose. We end up paid extra 3000 ¥ per night to get twin-bed room, which was larger and more comfortable.

The Hotel is located 1-minute from exit No 4 of Sushukino subway station. We take the airport express train to Sapporo station (¥1080) and transfer to subway. As easy as a breeze. Bus stop and taxi stand is close by.

The hotel is adjacent to numerous restaurants and shopping areas, can walk towards Sapporo station direction, along the road, restaurants, shops, boutique cafés are in abundance.

The hotel room was well maintained, clean and properly stocked. The only inconvenience is there is no closet. We stayed for 7 nights and struggle a bit with that. Vending machine is available on each floor for drinks, convenient store is around the corner. Room make up is done between 10-4 pm daily and prompt.

Be sure you have all you need, as the staff practically speak little or no English. For average tourist like me, needing very little servicing from hotel, it is ok.

Breakfast was not included and a special rate of ¥1200 for hotel guest is offered. Food is ok but gear more to Japanese guests. McDonald, Mister Donut and KFC are available nearby.

Overall hotel is very reasonable priced, so for someone likes convenience, it's a good choice.

Twin room is fairly spacious (but not all twin room are of the same size). Practically a minute walk from Susukino subway. Those that plan to stay long term and is looking forward to the coin operated washing machine (laundry), please take note - they DO NOT HAVE coin operated laundry despite what they say on their website.
