I stayed in this hotel during a 2 week trip through Japan. The hotel is exactly what you would expect in this price range, a professional and somewhat static hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms and standard breakfast. The positive for me was the size of the room. It was bigger than I expected, we actually had a little corner with...

I stayed here for 5 nights in May, and found this a well-priced, comfortable hotel. I have visited Kyoto many times over the past 15 years, and have stayed in different hotels, ranging from luxury to budget. This one is mid-range - measurably better than the cheapest, but lacking the amenities you would expect at a top-end hotel. The reception...

the very reason we opted for the Kyoto garden palace was the price..it's very decently priced compared to the other places in Kyoto.. The rooms are quite spacious and clean..the bathrooms are also clean but not a very modern one.. The wifi connectivity is great... The staff at the reception are very friendly and helpful.. The hotel is situated right...

Stayed in this hotel for two nights during my recent trip to Japan and I think this place redefines value for money .The rooms are spacious but the beds are a little small though it is definitely not a deal-breaker .Also ,I guess it was the only place during the entire tour that I actually enjoyed my English breakfast .There...

Nice hotel with pretty garden. The food was a bit expensive but there are restaurants within walking distance. I would stay there again when visiting Kyoto. Our room was at the front overlooking the park which was a great outlook. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

hotel is a couple of short blocks north of the Palace Side hotel and they both are immediately west from the Imperial Palace Gardens. Clean and convenient. Staff is very friendly. If you go to Kyoto, you're likely visiting a lot of the temples that rim the mountains on the edge of the city. You're better off choosing a hotel...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The hotel is very simple. Helpful staff and clean rooms. Pretty close to the subway. The room had a mini fridge, a tea maker/kettle, and free wifi and breakfast included. Good value!

I stayed here twice during the week. A friend recommended this hotel, and the price was very good during the week when not busy. The rooms are very nice, spacious, and clean. No public bath, though. The restaurant area is lovely, but the food is only average for a nicer place. The power controls are maybe too clever by half...

Stayed here with a friend for a night as it cost the same as a hostel to split a room and we were planning on a late night out. I usually stay in backpackers hostels, so this was a bit of an 'upgrade' for me. The hotel is spacious, but the rooms are quite small, though pretty average for business...

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighbourhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.

“I stayed on the 4th floor, but do not have any special tips. It may be worth staying in a room that faces away from the road for noise, although those rooms also will look out over the grounds of the Palace so it's a trade off.”
