Perfect balance between traditional japanese living and modern amenity, the care and pride put into this ryokan is that of a 5 star hotel. Location is also very convenient, just minutes away from bus stops and subway.

From being politely reminded to remove our shoes on arrival to the immaculately manicured rooms the experience was excellent. Far enough out to be peaceful yet close enough to trains and parks and temples. Definitely a 5 stars

Beautiful ryokan. Our room was huge and incredibly beautiful, with a view on the small internal pond with flowers and fishes. We also had a zen garden and a cozy and confortable bathroom. There are restaurants and konbini very close, the bust stop and the subway are 5 minutes away.

I recently stayed here for 3 days. It was a wonderful experience all-around. The staff was very friendly and warm. Ask for directions - they will be happy to show you how to use the bus. The staff are English speakers (one of the staff is also learning to speak Vietnamese; he was very kind and helpful, and loved to...

The owner is very kind, polite and helpful . Location was convenient with bus stop and train station nearby. Room was neat and tidy. It would be great if the bed was not that hard. It is a very personal preference though

Great place, lots of space compared to most Japanese accomodation. Very close to the Keihan line subway. The staff made me feel very welcome too. They have both public and private bathrooms for those keen on the onsen.

Summary: excellent, clean, hospitable, quiet, traditional. Room: we stayed in a Japanese-stytle room with two single futons (I loved it but not good if you cannot deal with hard mattresses). The room was large (approx 6m x4m), but that's just the bedroom. In addition there is an entrance area with a fridge (empty, but helpful for any food/drink you bring)...

It is a typical Japanese inn - you have to take off your shoes at the entrance and you sleep on a tatami. Everything inside is immaculately arranged. The breakfast is amazing and consists of ~10 small dishes that change every day. The owner/receptionist speaks English and was very helpful with directions to restaurants or calling taxi for me. The...

To fit in Kyoto style, we chose here to try tranditional Japanese-style ryokan with tatami room. It's beyond our expectation. Staff are so nice & super helpful. Terrific room with koi pond. Brilliant!

This is a traditional Ryokan in an excellent location in Kyoto, close to everything, within walking distance to the Imperial Palace, yet in a quiet residential area. We had room 205, which was spacious and airy, with a private bathroom. Equipments are modern, everything was very well maintained and housekeeping was impeccable. The public bath was small but nicely appointed...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
