Around 10 mins walk from the Kyoto station if you out from the correct exist. Everything is great expect for no elevator when we stay on the 5th floor ( Japanese style twin room) . Bathroom only available on 2nd and 3rd floor so there was some exercise everyday. Very friendly staff, load of stuff can be borrow for free...

Very close to JR Kyoto Station. Cozy place and cheap. Large living room and kitchen. No elevator. Japanese style single rooms available. Very clean and comfortable and well located. Subway station very close to the hostel. Also bus stop is close but few bus lines available.

Close to the station, so very convenient if you arrive at the JR station. The place is nice and clean, beds are comfortable, you have PC's connected to internet on the groundfloor. The staff is very professional, providing you with all the information you need but I didn't find them particularly friendly contrary to what is said in other reviews.

We had an amazing time in Kyoto and J-Hoppers was my home away from home for the 4 nights we spent there. It was very comfortable and clean in the 8 bed mixed dorms. Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. It was right across the street from a nice family restaurant and was one block over from...

We stayed for 4 nights in a 8 bed dorm (¥2500 a bed a night). The first night other sleepers were opening our curtains. Because every bed has curtains for privacy. Then the next morning one member of the staff opened the curtain... Really weird night. But that was the only downside. The common space is big and you have...

J-hoppers definitely living it up to its reviews! Stayed for 6 nights in female dorm. Really big bunk beds with medium-sized lockers in the room itself. Cleanliness was top-notch and the distance for bus stop and kyoto station fairly nearby. Staff were helpful in pointing us in the right directions. Overall, very good stay!

I've stayed in hostels in different countries and I gotta say, Japan has the most spacious and cleanest hostels ever! I stayed at this hostel for one night only and I really don't have any complaints. I was in a 6 mixed bunk room and was lucky enough to snag a big corner bunk. There's privacy curtains, bed light, a...

I stayed just one night but the place was wonderful. Great services, soap and shampoo included, wifi and free internet, towels if needed... all this for the right price. Very clean and spacious. Personnel was lovely and polite. Only drawback is that there is no elevator but is a 5/storey building. If you have no issues with carrying around heavy...

The hostel is located in a decent location as it is close to Kyoto station (10min walk) and very near to a seven-eleven convenience store. No elevator, so it can be a little difficult with large suitcases. The dorms were decent as they were provided sufficient space. However, the layout of sink and wash area on the 3rd floor is...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
