    My family wanted to visit a traditional ryokan and enjoy a tranquil time. I could find Yamashiroya from the blog review. And I had a great time with my family thanks to Yamashiroya. Hot spring was sooooo good and quite that we can enjoy it. (especially, hot spring water was good!) Not only dinner but also breakfast was wonderful, so...

    I was in Kyoto for the Gion Festival and this Ryokan is very close to the Kyoto train station. The A/C was good as well as the futon to sleep on the Tatami mat. You could smell the Tatami and it was very nice. (Be advised you have to like to sleep on a firm surface to use a futon/Tatami...

    Nice Ryokan, friendly staff, although not much English. Rooms are clean and unlike other Ryokan I've stayed in they have a Western bathroom which is a big bonus. Air con was much appreciated coz it was very hot when I was there. From memory I think the TV was coin operated which was a little odd, but ur not there...

    The nicest people that I have met in Japan hostels, they speak just few words in English but they really care about their guests, the show you in maps the facilities around the hostel.
