We really enjoyed our 6 day stay in Kyoto. Duo Inn is located in the NorthWest area of Kyoto so the location is not super central but if confident negotiating public transport you can access all of the city and surrounding areas via a combination of trains and buses. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything needed for... More

Clean, kind, economical, and set in a great location! Minutes away from Kinkaku-ji and right next to the train line to Arashiyama, this place turned out to be wonderfully accessible. It is about 45 minutes away from downtown Kyoto by bus, but that didn't turn out to be a problem since there are buses that run straight there. The manager... More

I decided to book a room after reading good reviews from the Duo Inn and it met all my expectations. The place is very clean and it has all the commodities. The small kitchen is great to prepare simple meals. The beds are very comfortable. There are various bus stops near the Inn and the closest train station is just... More

I stayed at Duo Inn solo for 34 days in November-December 2014. The rooms come with large balcony and a kitchenette. My room was very quiet, v. clean – spotless. The real asset of Duo Inn is its manager Mr. Yoshi – who speaks perfect English. He went way out of his way to help with my sightseeing/travel plans, shopping... More

Stayed here with a friend whilst travelling in Japan, fantastic place for a base to travel in and around Kyoto. Our room was spotlessly clean, en suite, kitchen area, large balcony, well equipped for all our needs. Very close to bus stops, restaurants and supermarket. Yoshi the manager was very helpful. Would definitely reccommend travellers to stay here and will... More

I was fortunate to stay at the Duo Inn for 3 months in the Fall 2014 while on sabbatical. The Inn is located in northwest Kyoto, in a charming and quiet neighborhood that gives you a taste of Japan away from the crowd. Next to the Inn is a picturesque stream (called Kamiya-gawa). Around the Inn are private homes and... More

If you stay in Kyoto for more than a few nights, this is an amazing option. Having visited Kyoto for more than 15 times, I have tried a fair number of accommodations. This is my favorite. Is is nicely set in a not so busy neighborhood, it is very convenient for Ryoanji, very good for Kinkakuji (two of the major... More

Really nice stay. The manager was helpful, kind and fluent in english (something I missed during my whole stay in Japan). The location is not great, but once you get used to it, it is not a problem at all. Restaturants are close to the inn and they are ok. With the assistance of the manager we booked a transfer... My wife and I just spent five nights at the Duo Inn. We both find it a wonderful place to stay and great value for money. We stayed in a Type D room, which is around 28 square meters. I will try the Type E room (38 sqm) next time. In no particular order, I list below the things we... More

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighbourhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
