Sophisticated hotel lodging designed by HOTEL GRANVIA. The new-brand hotel “VISCHIO” of JR West Hotels retains the quality of “HOTEL GRANVIA” while placing emphasis on accommodations with a sophisticated urban and modern flair. The term “VISCHIO” means “mistletoe” in Italian, a tree that is considered holy and is said to bring luck, peace, and happiness according to Norse mythology. The name was selected due to of our desire to a place of 'urban refuge' where our guests can recover from their tiring journey and gain a sense of well-being during their stay. A mere 2-minute walk from the Hachijo Exit (South Exit) of Kyoto Station. A convenient location for a variety of transport modes, including rail, air, and bus. The hotel is located next to Kyoto Station and is easily accessible via Shinkansen express trains and subway lines, and the proximity of the bus terminal makes this location very convenient for guests arriving via bus or limousine transport from Kansai Airport and Itami Air

Detailed Reviews
Great location right outside of Kyoto station (took us a bit of time to find the hotel because we had it mixed up with Hotel Granvia). It was quick for my family to hop into Kyoto station to take the bus or train to visit the other parts of the city.
Beds and pillows were plush and comfortable. I slept quite comfortably and temperature was well maintained.
The wet room style bathroom is modern with a Japanese twist by including a stool and bucket in the shower. The room split up the wet room, toilet and sink in separate areas which was a nice Japanese touch - only the ryokan we stayed at had a similar set up. For the family room at this hotel, it would be nice to have a soap by the sink in the toilet room as well as in the general sink.
I definitely recommend the family room for those travelling in larger groups.
I also appreciated the vending machine style check out. Super quick and easy.

My husband and I booked this hotel because it is close to the Kyoto Station and they offer breakfast buffet. Japan Airlines misplaced our luggage and the flight delay forced us to take three trains. It was almost midnight by the time we arrived at the hotel. Thankfully the hotel offered things we needed, we washed the clothes at the laundry room for two days because of the luggage delay, enjoyed the public bath, and got happy hours from the vending machine on the 2nd floor. They should get rid of the massage chairs no one use and add more washer and dryer machines; I had waited until 2:00 AM to do laundry for two days. The breakfast buffet was feast!!! We ate stakes, beef bowls, and sashimi in the morning, so much to eat, and weren’t hungry all day. We ❤️ loved a robot in the breakfast room, Bella from Bellabot. Children and adults seemed to enjoy clearing their plates. One of the hotel employees, Mr. Deguchi(出口さん) was exceptional; he was clearing the tables in the breakfast room in the morning and still helping the check in and check out in the lobby in the evening. He must be working over 12 hours that day and yet had big smiles at the end of the day. He literally run for our luggage which was delivered from Japan Airlines yesterday. We can tell he genuinely loves his work, helping the customers. Thank you, Mr. Deguchi for his heart felt outstanding work. Our room did not have views, facing another building, but was spacious for Japanese standard, the beds were firm and comfortable, the toilet was separated from the Semi-Japanese style deep bath tub. We will certainly be back and recommend anyone.

The hotel is located right next to Kyoto Station (just across the street from Avanti Department Store), making it incredibly easy to locate and navigate around the city.
The onsen was simple but great overall, and the staff were pretty friendly. We arrived early and had our luggage kept in a safe room with individual locks for each bag.
The rooms were quite spacious for Japanese standards, and the amenities provided were great.
On the first floor lounge, they provide complimentary coffee and tea as well as some specialty candies. The space was quite spacious and comfortable to wind down and relax if you have extra time to kill.
Would definitely recommend this place and stay again in the future.

Before I stayed at the Vischio by Granvia, I stayed at the „motherhouse“, the Granvia Kyoto.
The Visschio has no atmosphere, self check-in, self check-out, the „guest“ will certainly not experience a guest feeling, but rather a tenant feeling. My room was on third floor fairly small and dark as there was a house directly opposite the window and one could hear the aircon blowing from between the two buildings.
Otherwise the room is clean, modern, functional.
Breakfast is a mass event, only one big buffet with an endless queue even at 7.15am. The quality of the food was ok. I also had dinner at the hotel, price ok, quality, too.
I choose the hotel for night two and three of my Kyoto trip because it had the „.... by Granvia“ in its name and a hot bath. The bath was good, clean, even steam sauna available.
However, summing up I will not stay at the Visschio again, as the place has no atmosphere, plus there is not such a big price difference ( or at least was the case when I was there) compared to the „ motherhouse“.
I‘ld rather prefer the big bathtub in my room of the „ motherhouse“ and enjoy the guest feeling, to the situation at Vischio.

New hotel, lots of problem!!!
There was an option to buy the room type: check in after 1700. I paid for that type of room for 2 nights, then the problem comes.
It was ok for the first night since i checked in after at 1930, but the hotel informed me that i have to pack my luggage in the next morning and leave them at the reception before i go out because the room type i paid was “check in after 1700”. I asked whether the room would be the same as first night, they said yes. So i told them they can make up my room in later time as i will go out for the whole day and will return late at night, they said no, i hv to pack my luggage. I even said they can skip the making up my room but they insisted that i hv to pack my luggage!
Isn’t that stupid that you are giving me the same room but i hv to pack my luggage everyday?!😡 Hotels.com or the hotel should make a note about this specific policy when i book the hotel.
Another thing, there’s no signage at the public bath saying their opening hrs, the check in staff didn’t mentioned about the hrs also!😡 I was half way taking a bath and all of a sudden the bathroom was closing for the day!!!
For room make up service, the house keeping forgot to remove the rubbish in the bin!!

This hotel is located behind the KYOTO JR station
The area is much comfortable and residential then near Kyoto Tower and the room size is comparatively bigger than other hotel in same grade.
The highlight is the washroom which is like western style and quite premium .
There is a big local mall (AEON) and don’t miss this.
Walking distance to the TOSHI ~

Our stay at this hotel in Kyoto was simply fantastic! The location couldn't be better - right by the train station, which makes it incredibly convenient for exploring the city and taking day trips. You have everything you need right on your doorstep, from restaurants to shops to the best sights in Kyoto.
The breakfast buffet was absolutely first class and left nothing to be desired. The selection was huge and ranged from fresh baked goods and fruit to Japanese specialties. Whether sweet or savory, there really was something for every taste.
The service is particularly worth mentioning: when it rained, we were provided with umbrellas, which made our stay much easier in bad weather. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and the daily room service ensured that our room was always in perfect condition.
Our room was huge and modern, which is not a given in Japan. It offered plenty of space and comfort, which was very pleasant after a long day in the city. The furnishings were state-of-the-art, and we felt completely at home.
Overall, our stay at this hotel was an absolute highlight of our trip to Kyoto. We can only warmly recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable and centrally located accommodation. We will definitely be back!

This hotel is close to the Kyoto station. Loved the close by AEON mall. Their rooms are great size for 2 people ( 2 twin beds). They have an in house hot bath (but I didn't try); also a gym. Amenities and coffee/tea are self-served. One thing that was a bit hectic was they provide locker rooms that let you store your luggage after check out. It's hard to find spot if you check out late. and they have 2 shelves for this, you might have to lift it up to the top shelf to store your big luggage. Otherwise, enjoyed the location and new rooms.
Woman's floor is the same floor as the public hot bath, Laundry and gym (low floor). I might not request for this again as every time we go back to the floor, it seems many people outside the security door to our rooms.

I used a moderate twin with my wife.
The rooms are small and the tables are tiny.
However, I was glad that the bath and toilet in my room were separate, plus it was equipped with a kujijo and sauna for all guests to use.
The highest rating is the excellent breakfast.
There was a wide variety, and even though it was breakfast, the steaks were cooked and served on the spot.

It's close to JR Kyoto Station, so it's convenient for taking the Shinkansen. The bath, washroom, and toilet are separate and easy to use, and the rooms are a reasonable size for a Kyoto hotel.
There are no irons in the rooms, but they are located next to the elevators on each floor and can be used free of charge. The hotel itself is large, and there is a distance between the rooms and the elevator hall, so it was a little inconvenient to carry the iron and ironing board.
The slightly older man in a suit who looked like a manager in the lobby was not very friendly. The other staff were kind.

Sorry, im not sure
We do have heating system in the room, moreover we also have heated bathroom floors
They don’t offer early check in.if you get in early morning, book your room a day early, message the hotel and let them know you are arriving and checking in immediately. We did that in Osaka. But we notified the hotel prior to our arrival. Have fun! Japan is a great country.
Yes all room windows can be opened for fresh air
