You know you can relax and crash out when you arrive at Citadines . To use the cliche ; its a home away from home . No more endless communication glitch with only Japanese speaking staff ; no more litany of policies ; do's and dont's etc There is a human face to your transaction and all is well again...

We stayed here for 5 days in Kyoto and really found the location perfect for touring the city. 7-11 across the street, convenience store to the left of the entrance which has everything you'd need i.e. (toiletries, medicine, cosmetics), near bus stop and entrance to subway to the right. Sure you're not able to walk easily to all prime attractions...

The Citadines would be a perfect place for a two-week holiday in Kyoto if it had the possibility of giving its guests a choice of softer mattresses. Although the room was a bit on the small side, the lay-out was well thought out, it had a well-equipped kitchen and maintenance was spotless. The hotel staff was helpful, courteous and eager...

Not too fancy, but it has everything you need and tons of space for a hotel in Japan. Location is very much in the middle and close to nothing, so that's the only downer that you have to walk a bit or catch a subway or bus to go to the main attractions. The laundry facility was nice to have...

The location of this service apartment is a blessing. Near Gojo station, near Mac Donald, near 7-11, near bus stop. Although this service apartment doesn't have the amenities of a full-fledge hotel, like bar etc, we never felt anything amiss. The staff were great and cordial. Real value for money. Highly recommended for families.

First off - again, Ascott quality all over it. Nothing short of what is expected from them. Plus points: 1. Location - heck; as central as Kyoto can be. 15 minutes brisk walk to Kyoto station to the south and Kiyomizu-Gojo (Keihan Line) to the east. 2 minutes to the nearest Kyoto Subway and Kyoto City Bus stops (Gojo Station...

Pluses: - Location is good. Very near Kiyomizu-dera area. Convenient store, drug store, supermarket, fast-food restaurants are very nearby. Subway too. Couldn't ask for more. - In spite of good location, it's a quiet enough neighbourhood to return to after a day of sight-seeing. - Kitchenette well-equipped and clean. - Room cleanliness is above-average. Minuses: - Don't expect much service...

We knew we be going during the peak holiday season (end Nov) and made our reservations 4 months ahead. We book a twin room about 25sqm (405) for 4 nights averaging about 18,000y per night (all charges inclusive without breakfast) during the peak autumn month. The overall Japanese room and toilet is small like those you find in Paris, New...

Located right in the middle of Kyoto, close to Gojo metro station and a 15 minute stroll from the Kyoto station. All interesting sites are easily accessible by foot or public transport. The location cannot be better. The apartment itself was only a large room (for Japan) and a small kitchenette. However every possible facility was cleverly incorporated into this...

This is an apartment hotel one stop north from Kyoto station and very close to the subway. We didn't think it was the best location and would have preferred somewhere closer to shops and restaurant in Kawaramachi area. Having said that, it was easy to travel around Kyoto by public transport and taxis to do the sightseeing and go for...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
