if you want to get the ambience of japanese life perfectly, just stay in the guest house like this. the house was clean, safe and comfort. if you want to go to kyoto imperial palace, you can reach that place 30 minutes by walk.

Very nice and charming old-style guesthouse. Very convenient (common room, equipped kitchen), clean and quiet. Staff is also very kind. I highly recommend this place !!! Affordable room rates. Possibility to use the washing machine.

The staff was generous and helpful. They were keeping the place neat and clean all the time. The well-equipped kitchen had free rice (white and brown), coffee, leaf tea, spices, cooking oil and soy sauce. It was easy to burn the meal on the electric...More

Right in the middle of the city, NOT near station - but easy to get to on bus 12 or 101. (ignore booking.com instructions - seriously?) - english spoken, spotlessly clean, small traditional guesthouse. Great!

Can't believe this a hostel! Had the sophisticated design detail of a classy hotel, embracing traditional Japanese architecture (from use of main area tatami mat to a genius open-aired bathroom enclave with a rock fountain for hand washing) perfectly merged with all the modern comforts....More
