I stayed here for 1 night it was included in a JR package. They upgraded us to a better room for no extra charge. 10 minutes from the station with frequent shuttle bus. Very comfortable new hotel. I especially liked the security feature where my room key card only allows me entry to my floor. I didn't eat here so...

Thank you very much for choosing and staying in Kyoto Tokyu Hotel. We hope you had a wonderful stay with us. The floor which you stayed in was "premium floor". We are glad to hear you liked it! We look foward to seeing you again in the near future. Thanks. Kyoto Tokyu Hotel

You walk in to a very classy 4 star lobby, but the rooms themselves are small, stains all over carpet and walls and the bathroom is a giant modular box that they must have put in as an after thought to "update" the bathrooms. It felt like a prefab bathroom out of a trailer, and a cheap one at that....

Thank you very much for staying with us on your previous stay and sharing comment. We are so sorry for not being able to live up to your expectations. We cannot get the room with one big bed because we were fully booked. We are sorry about that. Thank you again for choosing Kyoto Tokyu Hotel.

This is a modern hotel with very nice public areas. The bedrooms are very much on the small side (although I believe some are much bigger than those which we had) but have everything you need with a nice bathroom and free toiletries if you have forgotten anything. Good selection at breakfast. Would have scored higher were it not for...

This hotel is in an excellent location and is an easy 10 to 15 minute walk away from the station area where there are lots of reasonably priced restaurants. There is a shuttle bus that goes backwards and forwards frequently during the day - the last one back being 8.35 p.m. The bedroom was adequate in size but, as usual...

The lobby looks 5 star but rooms are three. Small bathroom, average rooms stains on the floor and not really close to anything. Shuttle bus doesn't start till 8.20am so getting an early start to beat the crowds sightseeing made it hard, had to cab it, as too far to walk. You will need buses or trains to sightsee so...

Even though it's located slightly far from the Kyoto station, the hotel offers free shuttle bus service. A friendly staff at the parking will also help you to get a taxi from the hotel to the major tourist spots. Inside it's beautiful and decorated in oriental motives. There are several restaurants to have either japanese style breakfast or western style...

Our room was fine. Clean, comfortable, bathroom nice and all the amenities included in our room. The staff was wonderful especially the concierge. I just didn't know about the location. However, the hotel had a shuttle bus, that was always on time to go back and forth to the train station. The ride was less than 10 minutes. At the...

Lovely hotel. Smallish room but perfectly OK for a short stay. Lovely internal decor in the hotel, and the shuttle bus (free) to the station is very useful. Go to the station - it is an amazing building(s)! Go to the Ramen floor, lovely!

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
