I loved the hotel, it was more beautiful than I could have imagined and all the attractions around it made it non stop fun. I adored all of the small mom and pop type resturaunts and the service was spectacular! I highly reccomend going.
We had an overall good/decent stay here. We were upgraded to a larger room Thank goodness as Japanese hotel rooms are notoriously small. And, the non-smoking room was really a non-smoking room. In many of these "salary-man" type hotels the non-smoking rooms still have the...More

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

I didn't find anything about this hotel that great. Location was average I would recommend staying by train station to get around a lot easier. Rooms at this hotel had hard beds , stained and cigarette burned carpets. Foyer was 5 star but rooms were 3 star. I would not stay here again.
Hope this helps.

When You leave by 11 am from Kyoto Station, You will be at Narita Air port by 3 pm. Airline announces that to check in two hours in advance is required. So, You will be in time for departing airplane at 5 pm. However, this schedule is not included any idle time. I recommend you to leave Kyoto, at least 2 hour earlier schedule. Especially show season, Shin-Kansen usually delay 30 min to one hour delay between Kyoto and Tokyo.
