Excellent location opposite Kyoto Railway station. Beds hard. Staff were friendly. We had an issue about no eggs to order and no whole meal bread in the breakfast buffet but after complaining and an interview with the manager everything was fixed and both were available. The concierge desk people were fantastic - really excellent service. Recommended.

The room is spacious compared to hotel rooms in Japan in general. Across the street from the enormous Kyoto Station with lots of actions, and so handy to the Shinkansen, local buses and tour buses. Yet quiet and lovely, and around the corner from the Kyoto Tower. Would definitely recommend.

I've been there during my honeymoon and, even if the hotel is centrally located and very well accessibile, the service wasn't good as other Japanese hotels. No welcome kit and very cold check in experience. We spent 3 nights there and a couple of times the housekeeper forgot some cleaning stuff on our room and in general I would not... More

Hotel was decent enough without being spectacular. Rooms were smallish but neat and tidy. Staff friendly. The location was excellent though. Close to the train station and a large shopping centre, and plenty of places nearby. Would recommend

We spent one night in Kyoto and this hotel was perfect for our needs. The train station is directly across the street so we were able to check in and drop our bags before touring the city. We checked out around 10 (checkout is actually at noon), and they allowed us to store our bags until our train left several... More

It's close to train station, particularly Shinkansen. Close to food and grocery store which offers good discount on many items after 8pm. The twin rooms are spacious. Furniture/bathroom are older but clean.

New Miyako Hotel is just in front of Kyoto Station with free wifi and air conditioned rooms. We stayed here as part of the 2 day Kyoto tour from Tokyo. As part of the tour we enjoyed lunch which was an all you can eat buffet which was excellent serving western and asian food. The family room (3 beds) was... More

Stayed in a premier floor twin room for 4 nights in October 2016. The location of the hotel is great. Transport, food and shopping needs are easily met. The size of the room was adequate although the size of the bathroom requires me to tread carefully to avoid knocking into the washbasins and what have you. I had left for... More

Lobby is very nice but went to room and walls looked like something had leaked down them. Very dated and smelled. Staff were very nice and moved us to a room on other side that was a big improvement, but smelled like smoke when we went in. Aired out ok but beds were like sleeping on the floor they were... More

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
