I came here in good spirits in the hopes that I would also experience what other tripadvisor reviewers were getting. I already had low expectations due to other reviewers of the room. However this was the only reason why I paid a premium on Saturday night to stay here - more than other similar 3 star hotels. I made sure...

We stayed here for three nights in november 2014. The room was quite small but everything you need was in it and compared to the Japanese we are a sort of giants so we were not shocked by the size of the room. We received tickets to visit the tower on top for free which was very nice. The hotel...

Stayed for five nights on no business trip. Room was very small, as Japanese hotels often are but clean and comfortable. Very central location in city and directly opposite the main rail station. Easy access to shopping and restaurant areas. Have a cocktail in the tower bar, rather overpriced but spectacular views.

Personally speaking, I'm quite a fans of Kyoto Tower area, including the revived Kyoto Station complex. This hotel would be a good choice for anyone who wish to feel the nostalgic ambiance of Kyoto Tower, especially at night. We stayed here for 1 night on our way back up to Tokyo. Travelling as a family of 3 (2 adults 1 child). The main strength of the hotel is it's location right next to Kyoto station. A short walk from the station, through the bus station gets you to the hotel which is easily located by the obvious reference...

The hotel was located conveniently right across the road from the train and bus station. However, the room we stayed in was tiny. There was hardly space to fit our luggage. The hotel was busy with different groups of people coming and going, holding meetings in the convention rooms on different floors. There was a bit of noise from the...

Only thing good with this hotel is location and ok beds, but the air condition does not work and windows cannot be opened... our room got extremely hot and it was just spring time! Most amenities advertised when booking don't belong to the hotel and are only available just if you pay extra fees for them (this is not honest)......

Nothing special other than the convenient location close to the main train station. Beds had a definite tilt to one side from wear and tear. Room smelled of smoke although non smoking. Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
