Great hotel for the price, the place is a little dated the bed is very hard, great location right on the bus line to get you everywhere very central located would stay here again if in Kyoto the only thing is they have no restaurant...More
Pros: Cheap for the location – though we did visit in low season. The lobby has a vending machine with alcohol and a washing machine.
Cons: We booked a non-smoking room but it stunk of smoke – especially the bathroom. Everything was very run down...More
The hotel room was quite dated and in need of refurbishment. The bathroom shower curtain was so mouldy. The bed was so ridiculously hard, felt like sleeping on concrete. The location was ok, a 20 ish minute walk to the station.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and found the stay at this premises average. It is located a good 10 min walk to the nearest main subway line, and about 5 mins to a small subway that is less well connected to other parts of...More
We stayed here for just one night.

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
What's the bus # shall I take from Kyoto Station to Kyoto Rich Hotel? Is the bus stops right in front of the hotel? Understand that there are 2 types of buses in kyoto, Kyoto City bus and Raku bus, please advise which one is a better choice to the hotel?
