Staff is very and nice helpful, some of them speak English too.
The room we got was just next to the Japanese style garden with a small pond. It really has the feeling of an old ryokan, but the room is very clean. The shower is medium clean, but ok.
For me it was a bit too dark somehow and the gurgle at the pond gave a noise like as it would constantly raining outside.
Location is perfect, and WIFI worked well.
The room was very clean with traditional futon bedding on the floor.
Fecilities for making green tea, small TV and bath/shower.
Staff were Freindly and helpful with enough English to get by.
Good location near the Kyoto train station.
Laundry on 2nd floor: wash 300 Yen, dry 100 Yen per 30 mins.
The owner is friendly and helpful but does not speak much English. Free internet is available but there is only 1 computer and hence you are likely to face competition from your fellow residents especially during the late evenings. There are 2 shared bathrooms but the one on the ground floor is more spacious and has a tub available for a taste of hot spring dip, if you desire.
Locationwise, it is a fair bit of walk from the train station: 15 mins with luggage. The ryokan is located in a quiet alley and so it is not advisable to return late at night. Anyway, there is a curfew in place afterwhich, the entrance door will be locked.
The only thing I like about the place is the availability of 24 hours dining place selling beef noodles/rice just around the corner from the roykan.
The service is impersonal and finding someone to talk was rather hard.
It is an ok place to stay for a night or two but it is nothing special.
The owner was very friendly thou, however had very limited English - I felt sorry for her as I was talking very fast as I just wanted to get to my room after my flight.
On the positive side, very close to Kyoto Station, and they held my luggage for me while I explored in the afternoon. I wouldn't stay here again thou.
"A room for three people will you three rooms seperated by sliding doors. We had a space for our luggage and to change clothes with some privacy, a sleeping space, and a table space."Read full review
