The hotel was clean and most importantly in an excellent area. It is a quick walk from Kyoto Station. The room was tiny, which we expected. The bed, however, was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. It felt as if there was only a box springs and no mattress. My husband tossed and turned all night and...

Thank you for staying with. Our hotel beds are APA Hotel original bed that was developed in collaboration with the United States of Sealy. Not meeting the customers, I'm sorry. If you also come to Kyoto, please reservation. Please come again APA.

First, let me say that I believe tripadvisor's reviews of this hotel are mixed with at least one other APA hotel. This is not to blame tripadvisor or any of the reviewers but rather the APA Hotel chain's tendency to locate hotels close to each other and with similar names. For example, many APA hotel names in several cities include...

Thank you for staying for our hotel. We are, by deliberately decreasing the room, raising the cooling and heating efficiency, reduce the waste carbon dioxide, it is to reduce the environmental load. From Kyoto Station is the distance of a few minutes walk, if only in anxiety map, will guide you. Also When you come to Kyoto, also thank other...

I stayed in the economy double room, the room size is small (typical japan hotel room size), but the overall hygiene is acceptable. It has great location, just 1 minute walk from the popular convenient store, Family Mart, which I enjoyed purchasing different drinks and snacks a lot ! And it is just 2 minute walk from the JR kyoto...

Thank you to stay. It has been relieved without any major problem. Kyoto is still a lot of tourist attractions. In addition, they become completely different aspect in the season. In particular, the fall is very beautiful. If if it rains the snow in winter, it is possible to see the scenery can not see quite as well in Japanese....

I chose this hotel as it was the best available on tripadvisor comparative ratings during the extremely busy Sakura time. However was a bit unsure as it was ranked way below. However from check in to stay (I stayed here for 6 days), to quality of sleep, to breakfast, to cleanliness - there was nothing to complaint. Everything was as...

The first thing to mention is that from the other reviews, I thought that the hotel was attached to the station. It’s not. So vast is the Kyoto station that it took a long time to wander around, until we accidently stumbled upon the visitors centre where they were kind enough to give me maps and clear directions to the...

Good location near the station, but that's about it. The room was really small. No room to open a big suitcase, except on the bed. Floor of the room was freezing. Would never book this on a personal vacation.

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights. The location was great - across the road from the station. The room was very clean and staff were polite and accommodating. The only downside would be that the room was very, very small.

The room has all the essentials, but it is seriously very small. If you are a tall person or are particular about space, think twice before booking. That being said, it is conveniently located within 3-min walk from the Kyoto Station (bus, train, subway), near several convenient stores, restaurants, Starbucks, McD, and shops. Like many hotels in Kyoto, the hotel...

Hotel is in superb location for the train station - ideal for tourists visiting Kyoto and using it as a base to visit Hiroshima, Nara etc. Room we had was extremely small by western standards but staff were nice.

We stayed there for a night, one week ago. It is the tiniest room I have ever seen. The bed does not fit two persons well and you can't even move inside of the room. Quite old, you can't stay there for more then one night.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
