K's House is simply great! Friendly staff, clean and comfortable facilities, minutes walk from so much Kyoto has to offer! If you want a very affordable, no fuss stay try this out. It is a hostel, so no bathroom or TV in your room or anything. But in exchange for that you get a shared kitchen, nice lounges, and a...

Fantastic hostel. zero complaints. Lovely stuff checked me in and carried my quite heavy suitcase up to the third floor. Lovely staff. I had a private room which was good for a hostel, nice bed, desk, side table and hangers. Bathroom and toilet opposite my room. Shower was brilliant, good water pressure. Nice cafe/bar next to hostel and great social...

I stayed here for 3 days, It took few minutes from Kyoto Station to K's House Kyoto. This place was very cozy and super clean, I get a huge locker under my bed, and the room was bright without any curtain but I love it. All the staff was very nice, can speak English fluently, and really helpful. The living...

It took me as little as 5 minutes to walk to Kyoto station once I got my bearings. Great place to stay if you are just arriving, or have an early morning departure. The trade-off is, not really close to the action: 30 minutes leisurely walk to Gion or Kawaramachi, or short bus or train ride. There are 2 nearby...

Stayed on 3 nights in January. In a 6 bed female dorm. Great location for a hostel. Extremely clean. Huge lockers. The common area is awesome. Very helpful staff at the reception, they went out of the way to help whenever I needed any help with my Itinerary. It was a wonderful experience overall.

This hostel hits the perfect note at every turn. Reception is very friendly and obliging. All facilities, from rooms to bathrooms and common areas are spotless. Location is well placed in the centre of three of the major tourist areas (Kyoto Station, Gion and Pontocho), and we had no problems exploring the local area or venturing further with K's House...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
