Budget motel with little service or hospitality, not catered for foreigners. Key points that make up my rating: - Staff attitude is poor from start of check in, right through. Basically got given room key and left. No explaination of facilites etc. Got to room there was on english instruction for things like wi-fi, aircon, safe deposit box. Rang reception and told to check instructions on TV screen which were so hard to navigate. - Room is so tiny. Bare minimum facitities. Place is little dated and could do with a refurb. Cleanliness was ok. No drinking water in room, you have to go down to lobby and self service. - Location is good. Opposite train station about 3-5 mins walk. Nagano itself has not much attrations if you are not into going skiing. But thats not to do with this establishment. - I saw a lot of locals business men coming and going. So I get the feel this is a place for local who come from out of town to do business. Perhaps if you are stopping a night or so before heading to a skii place or something then this might be suitable for just a room at a cheap price to get you by for the night. Considering we paid around $24000yen for 3 nights, it was ok. Can't expect too much for that price. …
To me, a hotel is a place to leave your luggage when you're exploring, have a hot bath when you get back, and a comfortable bed to sleep in. Toyoko Inn provides these three things in spades. I see no need to stay anywhere else when I'm in Japan.
You hardly have any walking space as there is only about 40cm gap between the bed and the wall. If you choose to hang your clothes on the wall hangers provided and you will have lesser walking space. The bed provided for a single room accommodation is bigger than a super single which I suggest that the hotel should only provide a single bed and have more walking space rather than a big bed with no walking space and no room for cabin bags.
The Toyoko Inn is a nice hotel for the price in Nagano not far from the train station. The rooms are clean and neat and the staff is For those who have a car, it has the car elevator! Breakfast is good and included with the room.
Clean comfortable and well located. Free wifi and breakfast. Staff always fabulous. One of the many Toyoko-inns we have stayed at in Japan. Washing machines and dryers clean and cheap for your laundry. Just the spot to rest your weary head after a day of exploring.
