As always, Southeast Asia weather is high of humidity.. be prefer for sweating a lot.

I've arrived afternoon, and a bit misunderstanding with our Grab driver(write those in your list folk's) need 1hour to reach the hotel. Check in situations need your booking print, passport and pay in cash taxes. Fortunately this is historical hotel in KL and the aircons was super cold.

Walk less than 5 minute you'll find alor St, bunch of mall or plaza, RM 10 go to KLCC using grab or 30minute walk from pavilion mall.

Must try musangking durian, Mee mamak, chestnuts and nasi lemak.

Breakfast was good, but if you get a bit late (breakfast serve at 7-10) ask for spoon yaa. Hehehe

My room at 6fl was huge, but since it's facing toward the bukit bintang St, you'll heard music(mix from classic melayu, Indonesian top40 to rock) all night long.

Nite live it's easy at alor St.

We stayed for one night as a couple in a Merdeka Premier Double Room. Location is excellent being within walking distance to the Bukit Bintang Monorail and MRT station. There are numerous restaurants /eateries and bars within walking distance. We had a huge comfortable bed and a large bathroom with heaps of hot water and good pressure. The A/C worked very well. My only issue is the room lighting. It was dark in the corner and the lights were not working. We also had an issue with the key card for the lift. The Staff were polite and professional. Breakfast was amazing with an abundance of food and variety catering to all nationalities. We would recommend and stay again.

The check in service here was pretty efficient (considering the transfer time from the international airport to the city centre takes so long, efficiency is what you crave) and we upgraded to one of their deluxe rooms - I think they have 2 per floor - because we thought that the standard (superior?) rooms were too small. Anyhow, the room was fantastic with plenty of space and it overlooked the pool, which made for good people watching. Everything was spotless (sheets, towels, shower tray), just as you'd expect but the beds, at least to us, were incredibly hard. Fortunately we were so tired from shopping that we didn't care too much! The 7-11 next door (on the left as you come out) was particularly convenient for water/Coke/crisps/beer and the staff were also really nice and helpful. There was a bit of corridor noise, I think the function rooms are very popular, and the lift was crowded out a couple of times with very drunk partygoers and obviously they book rooms in the hotel as well... The buffet breakfast was excellent and there were loads of choices - one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had, in fact. We definitely plan to stay there again. The breakfast and service made up for the beds!

So we booked this hotel because it was a household name like 50 years ago during my father's childhood. Unfortunately I was not impressed....First off the room was freezing, even considering the AC was switched off and we're in Malaysia. Also the taps would leak so water would get allover the place. Lastly, not sure if it was just our room's location but the walls seemed paper-thin. You could literally hear the bell for the elevator ding every few minutes and water rushing through the pipes, all outside our door. I was only pleased with the concierge who served us and our issues.

I will not be returning. Rooms are old and dated. Poor maintenance terrible colour scheme, music can be heard on some nights till 2am in the morning from the street corner. High tea was an insult. I shall be sending my photo album and I hope the Managment take heed as this has the capability of being great once more.

We went to the Federal Hotel in Bukit Bintang in October 2022.
Unfortunately, the Hotel is closed. We were told by the security staff that it would not re open until next year. Has been closed since the recent problems of 2020.

In our recent trip to KL, we stayed at the Federal. From the exterior of the hotel, all seemed well. It is not until we checked in, that we realised that this is just the beginning of our nightmare. Our room was dark and not ventilated.

Mid in the night we realised that we have "extra" companions in the room to keep you busy through the night. In addition to the poorly ventiliated room, and poorly maintained toilet, we have cockcroaches running round and on the bed!

Its no wonder why we smelt insecticide when we walked into the room. Its a bad experience that we had to stay in that hotel.. really.

We were a little concerned when reading the previous review and so were relieved when we arrived at The Federal and found our room to be spacious, light, clean and well equipped. Not a cockroach in sight. We did reserve a delux room so maybe some of the standard rooms are not up to the same standard. We ate in the revolving restaurant and the Chinese Restaurant on the 2nd floor. It was the best Chinese meal we have eaten and the cheapest. We had 10 dishes between 3 people for 22 ringgits each. The hotel is close to all the shopping malls and restaurants making it really easy to shop and then return to the hotel for a rest before shopping again. We would recommend KL by night tour with buffet meal and Malaysian dancing and KL by day tour. Both were excellent. Shopping wise we thought Lot 10 was the best and the new Times Square the worst.

I was there 8 January 2007, the first night aproximately 5am. Uninvited guest(ghost) was in the room 318 with my buddy and me, unfortunately I was disturb my that thing and gotta change room immediately. Went to the receptionist and told her that something else was in the room with us, she change room for us without asking anymore. Later when the bellboy went to the room to help us pick up our laggage, we ask him about the that thing in the room he simply don't dare to speak up. Horrible stay. Yellowish shower and tap water.

We stayed in room 1018. We had booked a superior room. which we thought looked very nice on the website. On arriving we were very pleased with the look of the hotel. The lobby looked great, The rest of the hotel floors did not. Not ours any way. Carpets were dingy. and just outside our room the wall paper was peeling off. and our bedroom was certainley not superor !! It bore no resemblence to the photographs of superor rooms. We had a mini bar. !! what a joke that was. There was nothing in it !! The bath plug was broken, the tiles looked old. That room had certainley not been decorated in years and the carpet although clean had loads of stains on it. In publicity for this hotel it stated that it had been refurbished !!! What a joke that is . I think they missed our room. All in all it was a shabby room. I complained but got now were with the staff. I was glad to leave and will certainley not reccomend this hotel.
