a volunteer named Bri, made my stay here even more pleasant, so bright & bubbley. The hostel itself has a lovely rooftop terrace, with lots of plants and various seating, wifii is great and the 2 iguanas something to look at. A small book exchange and some good conversation made for a pleasant rest. The dorm had its own shower & toilet for 4 girls and a locker with key for each bed. Light and plug, with curtain, fan & air con.

We had a double room which was nice. Our room was next to a busy street and during the day there was some construction going on, but it did not bother us or kept us from sleeping. We loved the rooftop terrace! Also, the location is very convenient, close to the market on Petaling Street and around the corner there is a supermarket. The hostel is also very easy to spot from the metro station. The staff was very friendly :) the only thing that could be better was the matress, it was a bit too hard for us

Great location just a few minutes from Pasar Seni mrt station. Loved the terrace on the rooftop, offers really nice views at the surrounding area. Rooms are nice and clean, wifi is available for free and staff is really friendly. Will definetly stay here again.

The place was new and partially finished and would have been nice but for the arrogant, unscrupulous, and very discriminating nature of the manager/owner, Willy. At first he confided in me how they would profile their guests to allow only certain types to stay (same discriminating practice at their other location, Birdnest Guesthouse 2). Then later for whatever unknown reason, he told me to vacate as he had resold part of my reservation to a large group booking because, as he claimed, they bring in more money. That behavior seemed greedy, unscrupulous and lacking integrity. There's no cafe, kitchen, filtered drinking water (like other hostels) available to the guests while I was there. Sleep was so-so cause of the occasion outside noise and non-controllable aircon (he set and made it unchangeable). Shower has only warm water and not very strong flowing. The staff were okay with the exception of manager/owner, Willy. Stay away, it's overpriced and if you want a double-bed room, just pay a little more elsewhere and you'll get much better benefits and service than this place.

It's a shorter list to tell you what you get so we'll start there. You get, a room, w/fan and AC, a bed, a towel, hot water and wifi. Not bad for Asia true BUT the advert said there was a coffee/tea maker (kettle), seating area, bottled water, and toiletries none of which my room had or even had room for. The one thing that chapped my hide the most was the fact that even my short little wife (5'4") couldn't use the toilet comfortably. The toilet has literally 5 inches of space between the end of the seat and the wall in front of it. Then I asked for a remote to turn the AC down and change the fan swing settings and they couldn't produce a working remote. This may be fine for a backpacker but it's a bit pricey. ($14)
This is a "new" hotel ( I believe it was renovated) so it isn't run down and dirty. But their advertising is misleading. The hotel is located just around the corner from the infamous china town district and very close to many, many shopping areas. I give a lower rating thanks to their UBER TINY toilet and the shady ads on Agoda.

I stayed at Birdnest on recommendation from a friend. The staff was very helpful and offered travel tips for Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas based on my interest. I loved hanging out in the cafe on the rooftop! Such a peaceful hideaway in Chinatown, KL. Very close to transit hubs, Petaling Street, and Central Market with convenient stores and plenty of affordable food options nearby.

I stayed at birdnest several days, and not once it was cleaned or dusted by the staff. The bed is not comfortable at all, sheets looked dirty and unchanged after previous guests. Pillows were stone hard. I had problems with the toilet, room is too small. And the view from the window was a construction site. Shelves were covered with dust. The place where we had breakfast didn't differ from the room as tables were also dusty and not cleaned after someone ate. Breakfast is so average -- a cheese toast with few slices of fruits (didn't look fresh) on the side. Cups and utensils looked dirty.
Don't recommend this place to anyone 😏

My friends and I stayed here for 3 nights in a private room. The hostel is really beautiful and you can tell that it's newly built; everything is very clean and in really good working order. For example, in our private bathroom there was a rain shower that was lovely! The location is perfect, just a 2 minute walk from all sorts of public transport, a 30 second walk from a 7/11, and a 5 minute walk to all of the interesting parts of Chinatown.
Willy was really helpful and friendly, and totally made us feel welcome at the hostel. He was always up for a chat to tell us about Malaysia, what to do around here, or just to talk. The only thing I would say about the hostel is that it didn't seem very conducive to meeting people - it was pretty quiet from what we saw. That being said, we were staying in a private room and perhaps it's low season. Regardless, if you're looking for a quiet, clean, and friendly place to stay then I recommend Birdnest!

Birdsnest was a great option for a student traveler on a budget. My room had 2 bunk beds and a safe with a key lock to store valuable items, it was clean and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and gave my group many recommendations which really added to my experience in the city. The included breakfast was very convenient. If I were to visit KL again I would definitely stay here again.

Overall we found the staff very helpful and pleasant and the room was ideal. We had a private ensuite. Location was absolutely fantastic. Monorail station across the road which will take you to KL Sentral transport hub literally one stop away. Lots of restaurants and amenities nearby in china town and pleasant markets also. Only thing letting it down was that when we arrived we didn't have clean bedsheets which we had to remove. Aside from that minor hiccup, it was perfect. Also oddly it had a window into the hallway which was right next to reception. There was free toast and coffee in the morning on the rooftop terrace which had a lovely city view of KL.
