We were looking for somewhere really special for our honeymoon in the Maldives, and the resort recommendations our travel agent had suggested were all lacking what we wanted - either the resorts were tired looking, or the dining options were limited - or both.
After (too much?) research, we came across Oblu Select Lobigili and influenced by the reviews on here, knowing it was Adults-only, and seeing the traveller photos, we decided this was our resort of choice - and we booked via Virgin Holidays, staying at the resort for 9 nights.
Many reviews on here go into specifics of the experience, some taking the shine off of the element of surprise and delight, so I won’t go into too much detail to ensure your experience is as special as it can be, if you too are looking at Lobigilli for your honeymoon destination.
We were met efficiently at the airport first by the Virgin representative, who then took us to the Oblu Select counter, which from that point on we got to experience the fabulous attention to detail and quality of service that we were to enjoy for the next 10 days.
The complimentary speedboat transfer was well organised - we were aboard the boat within 30 minutes after arriving at the arrivals hall, and we we were whisked to the island in 15 minutes, on a clean, nearly brand-new speedboat that is dedicated to the resort.
Upon docking at the resort, we were given a fantastic welcome greeting by the island staff (as mentioned, I won’t spoil the surprise), and taken to the bar to meet our dedicated assigned host, Patrice, who shared with us our personalised itinerary of included excursions/restaurant meals that she’d already booked for us over the course of the days we were there - spread out so that we had something to look forward to most days. We had access to an App to view our bookings and to see the timetable of other events we could get involved in, and were set up with a Whatsapp group with Patrice so we could contact her at any point. Patrice sent us a friendly daily summary of events and was very responsive in rebooking things we wanted to change.
Patrice took us on a golf-buggy tour of the island, and drove us to our villa which was already prepared and ready for us - and proceeded to show us around the villa.
We booked the Nest Over Water Villa (the one without a pool) - and we were more than happy with this choice - the pools aren’t that big so it wasn’t worth the extra cost and we don’t feel we missed out significantly - and the direct access to the lovely blue, clear, sea water satisfied our desire to have a dip in the water when we wanted to.
Absolutely everything about the villa was perfect - the resort is only 2 years old, so it’s modern and it was spotlessly clean, perfectly sized, with decent sized TV with range of channels, full strength wifi signal thanks to the in-villa router, a fully stocked complimentary mini-bar (restocked each morning) and the semi-outside bathroom was amazing, and had great quality White Company toiletries, hairdryer and Iron/Ironing Board available on request.
The room was serviced daily, to a standard expected with a 5-star resort, and there was an evening turn-down service. Our dedicated housekeeper, Koti, was really friendly and did a fantastic job.
The board basis was all-inclusive by means of the ‘Lobi Plan’, which was the most comprehensive all-inclusive programme we’ve ever experienced. There was an extensive selection of branded spirits/drinks available and though their menu listed a number of cocktails included, our requests outside of this were accommodated with no question.
The main dining venue was YLANG YLANG - this is where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. The choices are extensive and the lunch/dinner menu changes every day and there are selections from the Italian, Asian, and Indian counters at all times. Over the 9 days we were there, the variety was perfect with enough choices available to avoid repetition. You make your selections from the live chef counters, and your choices are made to order and delivered to your table.
Absolutely every dish we had from Ylang Ylang was fantastic - this was high quality restaurant quality food - from Thai-style dishes, curries, steaks, grilled chicken etc. - and the most amazing stir fried vegetables - with the chefs more than happy to adjust the spice to taste as desired. We were concerned that the menu might be heavily fish-based as we don’t really eat fish - but this was not a problem whatsoever.
Due to the small size of the resort (there are only 68 villas so there will never be more than 140 guests fully occupied), the restaurant never felt too full - the guests tended to naturally spread out their attendance over the opening times so there was never a wait for a table nor a significant wait for food / drinks to arrive.
As we stayed for 9 nights, we also were able to visit the underwater restaurant (Only Blu) twice, and the ‘food truck’ twice. Again, the food in both of these is absolutely amazing and the underwater restaurant is a great experience - the daytime visit to Only Blu being more spectacular than the evening one as fish and sharks could be clearly seen.
Absolutely every member of the restaurant staff was excellent - we travel a lot and we can categorically say that the quality of service that we received from each and every one of them was above and beyond expectations and the best we’d received ever.
After dinner, we had a couple of drinks each evening in the Swing Bar (or around the pool area attached) - this was a relaxed full-service bar which was always quiet (10-20 guests max) even when the resort was fully occupied - most nights there was entertainment either from the islands own band or chilled tunes from the island DJ. The bar staff were always very friendly and often a new drink was forthcoming prior to the prior one being empty - no complaints!!
We made use of the complimentary paddle boards, sea kayaks, lifejackets, and snorkelling equipment (the latter of which you can keep for your entire stay)- there was plenty of equipment available. The staff in the watersports hut were helpful and were more than happy to demonstrate how things work (and rescue us when we paddled a bit too far out!).
The Lobi plan also included a complimentary Sunset Cruise, Snorkelling Cruise, and since we stayed 9 nights, two trips to the spa for a couples massage. The spa experience was excellent and the included 45 minute massage equivalent to what you’d expect in a spa at home.
You can venture over to the other island (Oblu Xperience) via footbridge and make use of all its facilities - that is the family resort, which is significantly larger (600+ guests)- we did make a visit one morning to look at the gift shop and have a drink there, but this felt more of a European holiday resort so we went back to Lobigilli and remained there. Those guests are not permitted to use the facilities of Lobigilli and there are security guards that enforce this, which kept Lobigili exclusive and remain adults-only.
Overall, in summary, we had the most amazing honeymoon experience at Lobigili and absolutely recommend Lobigili to anyone seeking a five-star experience, you won’t regret it, the island and surrounding sea is absolutely breathtaking. We’ve been fortunate to stay in hotels and resorts around the world and this one blows them all away by miles.
A big thanks once more to Patrice, Koti and absolutely all the other staff who made our stay wonderful - we can’t wait to visit again some time soon.

My partner and I stayed for 8nights, pick up from the airport and transfer on speedboat took around 15-20mins it didn’t seem that long at all. Greeted by the island staff playing music , a cold towel, a rose and champagne. We was assigned a island hostess Monica, she was absolutely amazing throughout our whole stay nothing was too much for her, she provided us with her number so you can contact her should you need any information or literally anything she was very pleasant and helpful. 5 star service from her at all times. She showed us to our room, the restaurant etc. Our luggage was also taken to our room via other staff which was a nice touch. She had also booked us in for a sunset cruise, snorkelling, bbq dinner and spa treatments. We stayed in the sunset pool villa absolutely amazing sunset views and very ideal if you love to lounge by the pool and beach as you have both options. Twice a day cleaning service was provided by Namgyal Wangmo the villa attendant she did a fantastic job, our room was always spotless and cleaned to a high standard, mini bar is free of charge and restocked daily and pool towels were changed daily. 5 star service from her also. We really appreciated her hard work. The spa was amazing the staff are so lovely and the complimentary treatments were a nice addition to our holiday. We had the couples coconut shell massages followed by a facial so relaxing. There is also a gym which over looks the sea with high quality equipment free to use. The restaurant is buffet breakfast and lunch with a la cart dinner, the only issue with this was dinner it’s the same menu all the time so if you stay for 2 weeks you won’t have a variety of food to eat and it will get boring. The service from the waitresses and waiters on a few days was slow we waited 1 hour and 30mins to get our mains. I think there needs to be more organisation with who is looking after which tables, this only tended to occur when the restaurant was busier. The BBQ dinner was unusual, it again was a la cart you only had 2 options for the mains I chose the chicken, fish, prawn and calamari option, the fish and prawns were great, the chicken was a little dry and the calamari was so rubbery and overcooked it was inedible, spoke to the chef who apologised and offered for a different option which was more fish which was amazing. At the swing bar there is live music or a DJ should you wish to go out in the evening for some drinks, it’s lovely to sit outside near the infinity pool and relax. There’s a good selection of drinks, cocktails and even create your own cocktail. They offer a chargeable floating breakfast also we had this one morning it was fantastic, you can pick the options you want to have on the tray. Very impressed by this. It was $125 for 2 people. In all the resort and staff are awesome, it’s defiantly somewhere I would visit again. I think once the resort resolves some teething service and food issues as it is a new island this place will be 100% 5 star quality.

My husband and I travelled to Oblu Select in July for a 10 day stay in one of their beachside SunNest Pool Villas. It was an anniversary/honeymoon trip and we had hoped it would be a special destination and Lobigili didn't disappoint. The attention to detail was amazing, from the welcome reception on the jetty to the emotional goodbye to the kind and attentive staff. Our host Olga was excellent and she could not do enough for us. She suggested and arranged trips (we did sunset fishing, sunset cruise and snorkelling) and dealt with any enquiries we had efficiently. She messaged us, kept in touch regularly and was a constant point of contact. The restaurant staff were excellent - all of them were warm, friendly and helpful when it came to food and wine choices. We always received a warm welcome from Samiha and Nuhuza and once we were seated we had a variety of helpful staff such as Jenny, Julia, Crysleen, Thao, Rachelle, Rubina, Sudha and Sumeda to name a few. Ajaya the executive chef took great pride in his work and his team and would sometimes come and chat with us. The service felt very warm and personal and the food was varied and exceptional, especially the Indian counter. Sudha suggested a group photograph of the staff to give to guests as a momento which we thought was a lovely idea, perhaps something for the future. Housekeeping also went beyond the call of duty and Shruti seemed to be the lady in charge of dealing with our room. She was always most courteous and efficient. The Island Chief Sri Acharya was always out and about making himself available for a chat and has every right to be proud of the team he has. We were very pleased to find an overwater and air conditioned gym as part of the facilities and used this quite a bit. We used the equipment by ourselves but also took advantage of the classes on offer (we especially liked the yoga) and the personal trainers were all very supportive and friendly. We had two relaxing Spa treatments included in our package and the staff were most knowledgable. The Swing Bar was a welcoming environment with some pleasant musical entertainment from a couple with a wide musical repertoire. The bar staff were great and provided a wide variety of drinks and cocktails. On our final evening we went to the Underwater restaurant which was a very special experience. We had the Lobi plan and we were particularly impressed that they were always very clear about what was included so we never felt as though we could be caught out with extras. Overall we were totally impressed by this stunning resort and would definitely recommend Lobigili Oblu Select for that very special holiday.

We stayed for about a week at the end of August. It was the rainy season, so the weather was a bit disappointing, but most of the staff were friendly and the surrounding environment was good, so I was able to go on a honeymoon trip happily. I can snorkel right from my room and the lagoon in front is in good condition, but the waves were a bit strong at the time of my visit so I couldn't go too far. Condition management, such as cleaning the room, is very good, and if you need anything, our butler, "May", will take care of most of it, so you can spend comfortably during your stay. Dining is buffet-style for breakfast and lunch, and you can use the live kitchen. Food is largely divided into Indian, Western, Mediterranean and Thai categories. Dinner is served in a way that you order the food you want. Most of the servers in charge are friendly, especially "Jenny" and "Christine" are memorable. They were very kind and caring for us. There is also a gym located between the connected island of Ailafushi, which runs a variety of active programs. I was particularly impressed with the yoga program, and the morning yoga and afternoon yoga sessions awake and release the body. Yoga instructor "manoj, Randi Lulu" is very kind and teaches yoga. Even though I am physically fit, I took the course safely and felt very comfortable. There are snorkeling in the morning, sunset fishing in the afternoon, and sunset cruise programs. You can ask the butler in charge or go to the bar at that time to participate. The crew in charge of maritime activities are very friendly. I don't know if we're particularly lucky, but "Nazeed" and "Hassan" took good care of us on the snorkeling and fishing program. You can also use the facilities of Ailafushi, and in the case of dining, it is a buffet style. If you are too tired of Lobigili's meal, it would not be a bad idea to try it at least once. However, the quality of the meal is definitely better at Lobigili. Since the concept of the two islands is completely different, it would be much better to use Lobigili for a honeymoon.

We visited Lobigili for our honeymoon and it was also our first time in the Maldives. From the second we arrived; the service was outstanding. Every single person on the island went above and beyond to ensure that we had the experience of a lifetime. The rooms, bar and restaurant were of an excellent standard and we felt very lucky to have such modern amenities on a tiny island. Sara was our host and always made sure we had everything we needed. I follow a gluten free diet due to a medical issue and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Chef Ajay met with us at every meal and was always more than happy to make me anything that I wanted. The team got to know me quickly and always checked the dishes when I ordered to ensure that they were safe for me to eat. My husband is more adventurous with his food choices and appreciated being guided to try some delicious delicacies by Mr Ajay- sometimes trying 3 or 4 things from the main menu! It was all presented beautifully and we wished we had more room to try even more. This was all supported by the amazing team - thank you to Jenny, Ani, Rachelle, Sudha, Ritika, Sumeda and Monika who always remembered what we liked and ensured we had it! The underwater restaurant was also an incredible experience and the food there was of such a high standard. Thank you finally to the gym team for helping us work off all of the food and drink we had! We loved chatting with them. We said we would come to this island once as our honeymoon is special… but we want to return already! Thank you all so much.

My Husband and I had an incredible time at Lobigili! From the moment we got off the speedboat everyone was super nice and accommodating. Our island host, Marwa constantly checked in on us and ensured we had everything we needed. We also switched rooms during our stay to get a taste of both the beach and overwater villas and they seamlessly orchestrated the transition for us. Elin was our food and beverage host and we received a warm welcome and a very sweet departing gift/dessert from her. Speaking of food, it was a top notch experience. Especially dinner, which was Al la carte. Food was featured from all over the world and everything was really good. I posted what I could, but we took tons of food pics from my husbands phone. Worth noting that the fish was especially fresh as should be expected from a coastal city. All of the staff and waitresses were extremely nice and helpful, a couple who stood out to us the most were Rahab and Julia who were very friendly and always checking in on us.
It was rainy season for us so we didn’t partake in any of the water excursions but was able take a beautiful sunset cruise. We also went to the underwater restaurant which was a fantastic experience. The Elena spa was also incredible!! We did a couples massage that was followed by a private bath ritual outdoors.
Everything about this resort was 5 stars— the best resort experience I have ever had. Our honeymoon was truly memorable because of it.
Highly recommended for couples, but I think solo travelers would also enjoy their stay here. It’s a quiet island with not much of a party life for bigger groups or families but there is a connecting resort with a large pool and DJ presence every night that might be of interest. It’s also owned by OBLU.

Where do I start ! We’ve been to the Maldives several times over the years but not visited for 12 years . This resort was perfect in every way . The accommodation we chose was a Beach Villa which led us straight from our villa to the beach within a few metres both from the front and rear . We chose to relax at the front because the beach was clean and taking a dip in the sea was just perfect with hardly anyone else in sight . Not many people around on account there are only 68 rooms on the resort . The facilities were just perfect and everything you’d expect from a 5* establishment , ranging from cleanliness, attentive staff and management . We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary , the Hostess Ester arranged for lovely decoration of our room , the management also treated us to a bottle of champagne with chocolate etc on our last full day . We were very please and happy with all the extras and the fact that the management were able to accommodate a late checkout for us which meant we were able to enjoy every moment at the resort before heading back . The staff were friendly , welcoming and genuinely interested in making our stay a memorable one . The food was great , plenty of choices at breakfast and lunch . Dinner as AI had 4 different menus for the main restaurant , and was great as long as you added in the undersea restaurant experience and ‘the route 17’ evening . We declined the lobster dinner on the Wednesday evening because my husband doesn’t eat lobster and that’s all that was on the menu at the copper pot . So 4 diff ent places to eat but only 2 of them as part of the AI plan . There’s lots to do as well if RR isn’t your thing , water sports , fishing , sunset cruise and lots more . I particularly enjoyed starting my day with the Yoga session , particularly when it was set up outside by the pool . Some days it was like having a personal yoga teacher !The Aqua aerobics was great fun too . I must mention the quality of toiletries was great with white company products , so no need to carry all that heavy bath gel, shampoo etc , I returned all mine . Thank you to all at the resort staff and management who made our holiday feel very special . I would certainly go back .

Where can I start…The resort is out of this world. All the staff are incredibly attentive and genuinely care, nothing is put on. They really go out their way to spoil you and make sure you have a wonderful experience. The food is amazing and we have been looked after by Julia, Rachelle, Naahil (whose infectious smile is a ray of sunshine) and the rest of the serving staff but I could not note everybody’s name who looked after us. The chef and his team deserve an award for preparing an absolute spread for Easter, especially the patisserie and chocolate items were to die for. Every morning I had wonderful breakfast made by Saikumar who always explained everything about the dishes. Last but not least I have to mention our wonderful hostess, Mega who was always on top of everything and made sure we had everything organised. We were blown away by how hard and tirelessly staff work at this place. The whole resort is so well thought out, everything is in place with your comfort in mind, the flip flops, the sun hats, beach bag, umbrellas dotted around the island, sun cream, insect repellent and so on and so on. This is why I would recommend this place without reservations.

OBLU Select Lobigili offers luxury on another level. From the moment we stepped on the island we felt taken care of, and that no request was too large. Our personal island hostess Patrice made our stay incredibly enjoyable, and she was always there to help with any requests.
We would also like to thank Thao who was also on hand to answer any questions and was very attentive, ensuring all our food and drinks were flawless throughout our stay!
The island itself is a honeymoon paradise, and at times we felt like we had the island to ourselves - we were in fact regularly the only people by the pool. The quietness was admittedly a little strange for us, however this is no doubt down to us staying during the off-season.
It was even really hard to leave our water nest villa with pool, because it was so luxurious and beautiful, and had everything we needed. But it was worth it because the food and cocktails are incredible in both the Ylang Ylang restaurant and the Swing Pool Bar and the view from the infinity pool was phenomenal!
Across our entire trip the staff were incredibly attentive and seemed genuinely happy to serve and chat to guests which is just a bonus on top of the quality of drinks etc. provided.
