The Somerset Hotel garners praise for its array of amenities, including the much-appreciated airport shuttle and an on-site restaurant that doesn't disappoint. Visitors frequently commend the hotel's cleanliness, with special mentions of pristine rooms and bathrooms. While the creative decor adds to the hotel's charm, space can be snug. Despite some rooms offering limited views and firmer beds, guests find them cozy and well-furnished. The central location is a hit for exploring Malé, and the staff's exceptional service further enhances the hotel's value, making it a recommended stay for travelers.

Were in a superior room for one night after arriving in Male late at night. Hotel was ideal for a stopover before continuing on to our resort island. Although room was very small it packed a lot into the confined space with queen bed, Expresso machine and writing desk whilst bathroom continued a large shower. Furnishings a little old fashioned. Free transfers from and to the airport/port were well organised. Breakfast buffet was excellent with good choice of fresh fruit, pastries and a hot food menu. Food on display was replenished regularly rather than have large amounts left out. Service from the staff was friendly and efficient. Our only complaint was the provision of a smoking annex next to the main dining room and every time the door was opened the smell of smoke came into the non smoking area. However would return in the future.

My partner and I stayed at the Somerset Hotel after a flight disruption. Every member of staff was incredibly kind and helpful to us while we tried to re-arrange flights and PCR tests. We demanded a lot of their time, needing phone calls and taxi rides and the Somerset Hotel staff were patient, kind and generous in their assistance to us. We are so grateful and won't forget it.
The rooms were really clean and had everything we needed and the breakfast had a great variety including fresh fruit, nice breads, and fresh coffee, all served with a smile. Thank-you for a great experience Somerset Hotel.

When we booked the hotel, there was a Govt. mandated requirement to stay only at one facility and split stays were not allowed. Due to the Covid restrictions and fear of constant changing travel requirements, we wanted to stay near by the airport. The Somerset hotel had very good reviews, hence we chose to stay there for 16 nights. When we got there we soon realized that there was nothing much to do in the Male city for two weeks and thought our vacation was ruined. We spoke with the hotel staff Anna, explained her our concerns and missed information about the city and its surrounding. She was very helpful in coordinating with my booking agency to ensure early check out can be done and full refund can be arranged for the unused nights as long as we stay there for 5 full nights, which we did not mind. One of the key highlight in staying at the Somerset was the hospitality and very accommodating attitude of each staff in all the departments. The guest relations officer Fathih's helpful nature and very friendly guest service attitude was the highlight of our stay there. Fathih found out that we were bored at the Male city within 2 days of our stay, he took an initiative to take us for sight seeing in Villigili Island. He even helped us with our new hotel in Mafushi and helped us to arrange our stay at one of his friend's hotel at a discounted rate. We had to do a PCR testing for the split stay, and he went out of his way to ensure we got our report on time. Even after the check out from the Somerset, while we were at the new Island he followed up with us to ensure we are having a pleasant stay, he even came by to see us off at the airport on our way home. He is definitely a star employee of the hotel, if you happen to stay there, make sure to connect with him and say hello. He is pretty awesome, a true guest relation officer!

Situated in the heart of Male and access to beach, restaurants and cafe are just walking distance.

Some Rooms are small but if you get the Rooms which is close to elevator access are super big with separate hall and bedroom.

Food is super tasty and one of the chef is Sri Lankan to give Authentic Sri Lankan taste.

Staffs were very helpful and specially Manager who is very attentive to each Guests.

There is not much to do in Male , but if you are staying then would recommend this hotel . Room was small but clean and staff were helpful. The food at its restaurant is really good and value for money, I felt it was better than most restaurants in Male. I really got bored in Male and people should only stay over if they have to catch flight the next day as the ferry services start a bit late.

Loved our stay at the Somerset Hotel. They picked us up from the airport with no hassle, it was raining when we were picked up so they ensured we got into the hotel without getting wet (the staff member parked the van right next to the entrance) and then gave us a welcome drink on arrival. I greatly appreciate Shaya's kindness and assistance upon checking in.
Afzal showed us to our room with our bags and explained to us how to order room service if we required. All the staff were kind and went out of their way to make it a great stay.
The hotel was clean and modern. The bathroom was particularly nice with a large shower. The beds were comfy and the robes and slippers were a nice touch.

The Good:
1. Location, bang at the most happening place of Male, National Museum is bang in front, Presidential Jetty is walking distance, Seagull cafe is adjacent, shops, money exchangers etc are down the road.
2. Size of the room is good

The Bad:
1. Rooms are old with stale smell, hotel reception lobby and lifts are cramped, room has no view, no ventilation, no air
2. Price is relatively high for the quality of room and services provided
3. Breakfast was a sham, though it was a mix of buffet and a'la carte but didn't enthuse us much, even for dinner we just could not find much to eat, menu didn't cater much to the Indian taste, not much veg items either
4. Staff isn't much smiling (though they were helpful for sure)

The Ugly:
1. We were supposed to have the complimentary airport transfers, I contacted the hotel a day before but there wasn't much response, I called up the hotel but was not picked up, our resort also called the hotel but their call wasn't picked up either. My many emails were not responded to. I did not get any vehicle at the airport, though the hotel refunded the amount I paid to the driver and also arranged the drop to airport but left a little bitter taste.

I'd choose a little airy and ventilated room next time.

Dissapointed with lunch. I ordered the Prawn nasi goreng dish and had to literally swim inside the rice to find the prawns😱

The staff insisted I pay right away and not on checkout. Sounds like no trust. I obliged but his credit machine did not work!

The Somerset Hotel was clean, efficient and well located. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant serves great food. We even tried the Sri Lankan buffet, which was excellent.

They will even give you a complimentary short walking tour of the area (the historical centre), which was unexpected and very nice. They will also store your bags while you are visiting the off islands. Wifi is decent, but not super fast.

Two points to note:

1. You will be woken by the call to prayers at 5:30am from the nearby mosque.
2. Like the rest of Male, there is no alcohol at the hotel or the hotel restaurant.

Me and my family (5 people) originally planned to stay here for 3 weeks for washout but unexpectedly had to extend 10 for days because our flight got cancelled. Mr. Ganesh kindly helped us with our situation with no problem at all which I am so grateful for. Throughout our trip we we're offered great and friendly service from everyone working there. Firstly, our check in, covid testing and check out process was easy and quick. We had no problem at all. Secondly, the hotel helped us arrange any transportation wee needed. They also helped to book a snorkelling excursion we went to swiftly. Thirdly, we went to Maafushi island for a few days and the hotel helped us with any forms/ documents we needed to submit for inter-island travelling. Fourthly, me and my family were very comfortable in the hotel. The beds were cosy and there was good internet for online school and work. Lastly, the food was great, we ordered from a menu and also had the buffet. The restaurant employees were very sweet and welcoming, they always remembered what we liked to have during breakfast and it was nice getting to know them all over the weeks. They also added additional dishes to our menu so we wouldn't have to eat the same food everyday. Every time we needed something, they always kindly helped us. We met a lot people staying at the hotel on this trip, and it was very lovely to socialise again. We were treated very warmly from the airport pick up to the drop off in the airport. We really appreciated all the help we received and were really happy to have stayed here. We all miss the little routine we had here and didn't want to leave in the end. Shoutout to Mark, Yaman, the Chef, Mr. Ganesh and everyone else who we met, we hope to see you again!
