The bartenders at the pool bar- Paul and Justin are the best. They provided the best service and cocktails. Their kindness made the trip more special. Regarding the room we stayed, there were some issues (we transferred our room 3 times) but today I only want to give a compliment just for Paul and Justin.

Hotel's Favourite
Recently stayed at the Sofitel Manila and enjoyed it immensely. Upgraded to a suite due to accor status and it was huge and spacious. Breakfast was buffet with plenty of variety and be early on weekends. Eating venues are very busy Fri, Sat,Sun, so book a table if eating. Accor Club lounge runs from 2 til 7pm and your well looked after by Friliene and Anthony. Snaps Sports Bar is another must visit. Really nice food, well priced drinks and great service by Paul, JP and the others. Pool and surrounds are beautiful. Top of the list is the 6 star Filipino customer service. The best ever. A wonderful place to stay and Accor discounts apply for dining and drinks.

Our hotel room is outdated. The beds are not as comfy as they should be and the bathroom is also old. As an accor member, I did not receive a welcome drinks voucher. Long que on the check in line and front desk staff does not seem to be apologetic or trying to do their best to remedy the problem. The only saving grace about our stay is the breakfast buffet. A lot of choices and the attentive staff on the restaurant floor. They advertised themselves to be 5 star but is far from being one. A 3 or 4 star hotel has done a better job than sofitel. I am still waiting for the holding fee on my card to be returned. I have checked out on Jan 7 and to date, the fee has not been cancelled. Sent an email to their front desk 20 January and I have not received a response from them.

Hotel room looks very old already with lots of ants. Bathroom drain is weird, water doesn't go down the drain. The view? Dont bother its not the same view a what they are promoting. Free water? Dont think about it. They will only give you 2 water bottle and if you consumed it already they will ask you to pay 120/bottle. Staff were very nice and accommodating. But we will never stay again.

As an Accor le club member I try to stay in chain hotels all over the world, to get the quality standards and enjoy benefits. Here we were not offered welcome drinks and we were not greeted as members at all. A room upgrade was offered, however the one received was very much outdated, opposite to the kitchen of the higher level lounge - being noisy and the food smell came in. Hotel staff was average not outstandingly polite or helpful. The only amazing part is the breakfast which is fantastic, huge range of international choices and beautifully presented. As per Accor standards this hotel is far from being a 5 star one.

The food and the service were great except for an unwelcoming and discriminatory staff. This affected the whole experience of my family dining in at Sofitel. I have stayed and dined in this hotel several times but this was the first time that I could say they made me think of not returning again. Around 16:30, we parked at the South Parking, thus, entered the hotel from that side. My family and I, along with our two small/medium-bred dogs, were waiting in queue to enter the hotel premises while the security on duty was checking the vaccination card of other guests. When it was our turn for the security and vaccination card check, this security staff, while checking on my vaccination card, became indifferent and showed unwelcoming behavior toward our group. She mentioned (non-verbatim) in an invidious manner “Bawal yang mga aso na yan sa Spiral”, pertaining to my dogs, after I have told her and the other security that I made a reservation in Sunset Bar. I told her that we were not headed to Spiral but Sunset bar and that I have already confirmed with the hotel staff that I will be bringing my dogs with us. While the other security signaled “okay”, she responded with an eye roll and raised eyebrows. To make the situation worse and awkward, while checking the bags of my siblings, she told my siblings in an irritable, discriminatory tone (non-verbatim, but main essence) “Dapat kasi dun yang mga aso na yan e, dun dun kayo” while shooing my dogs away and directing my siblings where to enter. It is unfortunate that my family and my dogs had to experience such an uncomfortable situation to enter a hotel that claims to be pet-friendly. I initially thought of bringing my dogs to this hotel so I can spend time my day off with them and with my family while enjoying the view and food. But little did I know that before such enjoyment, we have to face a discriminatory and perverse security staff, an attitude contrary to the hotel’s advertisement “Everyone’s welcome at Sofitel–even your beloved dogs and cats! x x x.”

I'll start with the Cons. - Views. Like others have said in reviews, the view isn't a Manila Bay view anymore with industrial works taking place to reclaim land, which i'm sure Sofitel can not do anything about but you don't find this out before checking in and seeing it yourself. - Club Millesime, if you are a family wanting to use this club then dont bother. Children are not allowed. Also, you are not allowed to take food or drink out of there so we couldnt even order a drink and then take it with us to finish on our way to our room. - The Pool area. Our daughter was rejected to go on the kids slides as she was under a certain height (she is a short child). This frustrated us a lot as she is a confident swimmer and could not go on the slide because of being smaller. We then asked if my husband could accompany her down the slide and that was also a no. She was however allowed on the smaller kids slide, but then adults weren't stopped going on this one when its super shallow at the end and can hurt something? My husband also was told off when walking in the pool with our daughter on his shoulders. I understand the safety concerns if children were on the shoulders of other children but they were clearly not doing anything silly and she was with her responsible parent. - Service. Multiple times when ordering something to our rooms we had to wait a substantial amount of time. Also, had to call housekeeping back every day as they would forget to refill coffee pods. - Room. We upgraded to a suite room and we really struggled with the lighting in room 1142. It has very dim lights and it is so hard to see or do anything in the room with the lack of light. We had maintenance come and check to see if the lights could be made brighter or anything but were told that's just how the room is meant to be. Others may like the mood lighting but we really did not enjoy that part of the room at all. We had to set up an extra plug in spotlight that housekeeping found so that my husband could shave in the bathroom. Alcohol Choice - My husband is a Bourbon lover and was disgusted to find they only had Jack Daniels. Not even a choice of Makers Mark or similiar/above. Now for the Pros. -Staff. The main Pro for us was the staff! Every single staff member you walk past or interact with goes out of their way to say hello to you. They really make your stay that much more enjoyable. We especially would like to mention a few certain staff. -- Matt and Cannon from Concierge, these gentlemen went above and beyond to cater to our every request, nothing was ever too hard and they were very very helpful. - CJ from the Lobby, it was so lovely to have this lady help us in whatever way she could! She was always just a phone call away for any questions of queries we had. - Carisa the in-house Nanny, we hired Carisa for 1.5 days and let me tell you, these were the best 2 days of our trip. It was so helpful having Carisa there to watch our little ones so that we could enjoy ourselves without having to run after the toddler. The children both loved her. Especially our 4 year old., We asked Carisa if she would like to take our 4 year old to the Mall of Asia to go to Kidzoona for some fun while we rested, which im 100% sure was the highlight of our daughters trip! We received photo and video updates from Carisa while they were gone and showed us all of the fun things they got up to while they were there. We were super happy with Carisa and will 100% be requesting her next time we come back. - Spiral Restaurant. I had heard great things about the breakfast buffet before arriving in the Philippines and it lived up to our expectations! The variety is insane, so many different things to try. We then dined here for dinner on our last night and were blown away even more. Neither myself or my husband have ever seen a better buffet.
